HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

Sadly only put about 2 tanks of fuel through it this year
The 1850’s are ridiculously heavy so that’s part of it, the other piece of the puzzle is a big block 2 stroke or even 4 stroke power would give you a lot more torque to spin bigger wheels pushing all that weight.

This is inspiring. I just picked up 04 Pulsare 1600 br I always overpower but 225hp on 16’ boat? Have you had any issues with the extra weight?
No real issues with weight per se, the newer direct injected 125 hp motors come in around the same weight as my old school carbed 225.
I’m selling the boat come spring and rigging it with a 150 for a family to enjoy using for various activities. I no longer need a bowrider and obviously the boat was never intended for my kind of speeds. Having said that, a setup aimed at high speed handling as the first priority worked quite well, boat handled decent at full whack and could still cruise mid 30’s without much drama.

Agreed this may not be the hull for speeds over 60mph. I’ve decided to make this a more family friendly boat. I found a mint Merc 115 ELPTO. Should be a fun boat!

I rerigged my 1989 Spectra 171 with a 2000 2.5L 200 Mercury I rebuilt. I now hit 70mph. But I am over propped. I think I can get a few more mph if I drop a couple inches of pitch.

My 2400 originally was rigged with the same Verado as Jupiter, a 300 pro. A 24 Bravo FS achieved 72-73 MPH, 1/2-3/4 tank and just myself. A 24p Tempest achieved 75-76 MPH with same amount of fuel. The Tempest was faster but hole shot was horrible, really had to ease into it, and with a full load of 2 people, beer & gear the ride quality and planing performance suffered as well.
Has anyone tried a Trophy Plus on the newer V8 Merc installed on a 21 or 24 Pulsare. I think it was Wildman's go to prop on the 300XS 2 stroke but I was concerned about excessive prop slip on the new V8's. I think a Tempest would be slightly faster than a Bravo FS on the new V8's but I haven't tried one. The 2400 built before mine had a 300Pro XS V8 and during Checkmate testing it ran about 2 mph faster than the Bravo FS and hit 70 mph.

A trophy is way too small for all of the 300+ hp 4 strokes, especially on these 2400’s. My tempest does give me the best top end but is useless for anything else. My Bravo FS is the best all around prop for my setup. Currently seeing 80 with the FS, since I installed all the USP intake mods. I have not run the tempest with these mods but would expect + 2-3 mph over the FS.

My 24 Promax is 2-3 mph faster than my 25 Bravo FS. The FS is just a nicer, quieter cruising prop, especially when there is more load in the boat which does not happen that often.
