Speed----

The best I've seen is 67 w/22 raker. Best prop so far is a 23 ballistic 4 blade for all round use. It will run 65 all day long or until the V8 runs dry.

Love it......how's that V8 run as far as smoothness, reliability, etc?
That was my next question. I have a mid 80's 300 V8 thats on my rallysport. It runs great, always starts with half a turn, and sounds like a beast, but these V8's are new to me so I dont know what to expect. The guy who owned it before me tweaked it a bit, allegedly over 350 hp, so Im pretty excited to get it dialed in and see what she's got.

about V8s

Im fortunate because my mechanic had one and is familar with them. The motor was supposedly rebuilt with about 40 hours on it when I bought it. The hour meter showed 217.The previous owner said he left the key on for a week,so the motor has less than that.
We cleaned the carbs cause the boat sat up for a while. It runs strong and not to bad on fuel unless you hammer it.The only problem I've had is twice I had the constant alarm sound off.I had oil and water going thru the engine. We think it was a vapor lock.It quit after I shut it off for ten minutes.Last weekend it did the same thing, ran great--then sounded off while idling.I feathered the electric fuel pump and it quit.
