I have 2 questions for you. One, do they make a direct bolt on aluminum swim platform to replace the fiberglass one?
Two, I bought this boat used last year. The guy I bought it from said he put a cam, roller rockers,Imco powerplus headers and reprogrammed the computer. It is a 454 mag and I am running a 24 brovo 4 blade. what speed should this boat be running and is there any simple upgrades I can do to get a little more performance out of it

I go to the chain also. My buddy has a place in antioch and he also has a checkmate. Im sure you have seen his it is called PORNSTAR.

This will be my first summer with the checkmate. I just sold a 21' Liberator tunnel hull (white with grey to black fades) with a 900 hp Blown 509 in it. It was named Preditor II. I had the name and a Nito Fish on a black scoop and the blower sticking out of the sun deck. I sold it with a 502 so I still have the 509. It is a dart block with 8.5:1 cr that I plain to remove the 6 71 and make it a NA motor, up the CR and push about 550-600 hp out of it and put it in the Convincor. I may have seen your buddys!? What model is his? I live right off Redhead lake. Readhead is a small lake no one knows about. There has channel assess to it right by Famous Freddie's. We will need to hook up this summer.

BTW I grew up In Antioch Right off Bluff lake.

I have always wanted to hit the Chain. I heard a lot about it when I lived in S. E. Wisconsin. I only live about 2 hour from the Chain on the border of Iowa and Illinois. Any tips on where to go. I will be running a 24 foot Checkmate this year, any places I can or can't go? For some reason I think I remember hearing that some ares were pretty shallow, but that was a while ago and my memory is not working too well as of late for some reason. (it can't be the beer!?!)
Thanks for your input
Bill

The entire chain is pretty shallow especially the channels between lakes but as long as you trim up your fine. The place to go on the chain is the sand bars during the day then to Blarneys Island around 3 or so. Usually there are anywhere between 100 to 150 boats there on any given weekend.

Bill,
What Jim said! The island is a blast. If your into Drag Boats thurs is race night. You cand find me there any Thurs.I stay off the island then and just Anchor up and watch the races. If you head up here give me a yell. I will show you around. And also I can pick your brain about detailing my new boat. It has some fade on the lower hull. Still don't look bad for a 13 yr old boat though. You will be good with your 24' ( I just bought a 251 GTX) The chain o lakes state park has a very nice and very free launch ramp ( 4 of them I should add) You can shoot me an E-mail Michael.Whitehead@US.Bosch.com
