I HAD THE ENGINE START TO MISS/POP AND WENT DOWN A CYLINDER. I THINK A ROCKER ARM OR STUD BROKE. IT IS A CARB 502 IN A 22' 9" MAXXUM. ENGINE IS NEWLY REDONE WITH 850 DOUBLE PUMPER. WHAT ARE SYMPTOMS OF A ROCKER ARM GOING SOUTH WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING? TNX

3: Rocker failure = Noise. Loss of compression. Loss of power in affected cylinder. Pull the valve cover and start wiggling rockers to look for excessive play. If a visual inspection doesn't reveal the culprit, do compression/leak down tests. Definitely don't run the engine with a suspected bad valve train component. Lots of bad do-do can happen.
