80.3 in the Pulsare

1st time out this year, 80.3 gps, with new prop. Pretty darn happy for a tired 225 Yamaha at 6000 even. I'm putting in a foot throttle for sure, I would rather have both hands on the wheel. I'm sure I'm not the first guy to go 80+ in a 2100br with a 225, but I'd be curious to know other's set-ups who have. I know your going to ask so here goes. 13" set back, 1.25" above the pad. Coned lower w/lo pick-ups. New prop is the magic ticket, 5-6 mph faster than anything else I've tried, including Tempest +'s, Trophy+'s , Bravo 1's, Various merc choppers, and an over-hub 28" Spinelli. I'm a happy guy this thing is a real sleeper now...

Awesome #s with a 225!

What's the magic prop?

Not sure there has been another 225 over 80 on here?

Yes bow cover on, 1/2 tank of fuel. Air temp 65f water temp 61f. One caveat is I'm running a little light... Front seats, amp and sub, and the second battery were out of it as I'm re-doing the wood in the curved seat backs. Total missing weight 162 lbs (I weighed everything). The second battery was 49lbs alone and it's in the back so probably not as critical as bow weight. I'll be curious to see how much if any it loses back at "full" weight. I think it may have a bit left, I think I can go up one more bolt hole on the motor. The magic prop holds like crazy even at 1 1/4" above. I'll keep everyone posted as I get some more testing in over the next few weeks. It now runs 78 with two, and 72-73 with four, which is still 4-5 mph faster Than it ever has before. I've been playing with this thing for four years now. I'm sure the suspense is killing you on the prop. I'll give you a hint, it's a 15 1/8" x 27" and has been dissed on several forums by people who have never tried it. I didn't even know this company MADE propellers. Several people up this way started trying it last season and have been VERY impressed with the results!

Is there some special reason you are withholding prop information that could possibly be helpful to your fellow enthusiasts?
How about if everybody pledges to not steal this proprietary information or beat you in a race.

Take it easy Sim, just having fun building some suspense. It's an out-of-box Solas Scorpion, which is a copy of a Yamaha T-1.

I'm still a big fan of large ear 3-blade speed props that are hard to keep on the pad :thumb: More fun that way! :eyecrazy:

It's manners seem pretty good so far. It planes no problem with six people on board. It definitely is "on the pad" on the top end but is not unruly to drive. I have not tried it skiing or wakeboarding yet but I will.

A couple more things. It's almost HALF the cost of a Merc or yamaha Prop. It comes with very small (about 1/4") ventilation holes, which the Yamaha's don't seem to mind. A local shop up here is modifying them to accept the Merc pvs plugs for those who need it.

How's yours running with xs? That would be my next step up, or a call to Hydro-tec.

Wish I knew.....

In the midst of a bunch of upgrades/re-rigging. Hoping to splash next week finally! High 80's @ 3k ft elevation, low to mid 90's sea level would be optimal.

Sounds great, keep us posted. Most the performance reviews out there are for long deck/300xs combos as compared to bow riders.

I have a 25 solas scorpion that's b&b and had a lot of work done,it is a very fast prop. However Ive had many Yamaha 225s and some very modified.I assume yours has 1.86 gears,Im having a hard time buying it comes out good with a 27 and 6 people on board.Id guess some would be sitting in the bow.I have a 300xs with DBR 1.1 kit and its no drag boat out of the hole.

Ratio is 1:81. I guess it depends on your definition of "good". It doesn't cavitate excessively or bog. It's no dragboat clearly but it works good for me! That's with two people in the bow, everyone under two hundred lbs. it's better out of the hole than the tempest and far better than a trophy.

I'm going to take it out today or tomorrow if it ever stops raining. I've got more lake this weekend and have installed a foot throttle. I'd like to see 81 or 82 but we'll see. I still have some work to do to the lower, the filler around the factory water pick-ups is coming loose and I need to fix it properly. I also need to fix up the pad a bit as it has a few minor chunks out of it. I think it would need to see 61-6200 rpm to get there. I cut the grey wire as well (rev limiter) as well so that won't be an issue. A 6-8" chop and a tailwind might help as well...lol.
