Anyone tried wrap around seat in a pulse/pulsare?

So, longtime lurker here.

I’m actually in the middle of a rebuilding 1994 Pulse 185 and it is time to tackle the interior...

A little about the boat: it’s black (with blue/teal micro flake) and was faded bad, but after wet sanding, buff, polish and wax, she’s black again. There still some work to do and a couple of areas where the gel is thinning, but I’m ok with it for now. I love the classic flake and am reluctant to change it.

But the interior is another story. Floor and stringers were toast and have been changed out. Floor went on the passenger helm seat, was starting to go on the captain helm, and during removal it was discovered to be bad near the battery at the rear. Rest of the boat was solid. Transom was solid and remains. I deleted the ski locker as I have no need to carry skis at the cottage where the boat will be used most often and want things dry and cleaner look.

As for the upholstery, It’s rotten on the inside, but the actual vinyl is salvageable. But I don’t love the color, so I’m changing it while I have it all apart. Rounded corner areas are completely rotted. Typical spots from what I’ve read on the board. As for an update to it, I always loved the idea of wrap around seating and have it on my other boat. Originally when I bought this project boat my plan was to convert it to wrap around in the main cockpit area, but then I got away from that and thought best to stay original...but after meeting with my upholstery guy tonight, I’m thinking about it again and need to decide ASAP. I’m not a fan of the old barrel seats, so I’d be replacing them both anyway with more of a modern flip up bolster type, but then I thought maybe just buy one and do the wrap around.

So the question is: Has anyone tried it, thought about it or have opinions on it? I think it could be pretty sharp if done well.

It took me a while to figure out what you meant, But I personally prefer the swivel bucket for the passenger side in these boats if you use it for going fast it’s nice to have a forward facing seat with a backrest. Then swivel it for spotting while skiing and tubing. If the wrap around part makes you sit sideways to have you feet on the floor I don’t think that would be comfortable for long in any kind of waves.

But you said your other boat has this type of seating and you must love it to consider the change, so my thoughts don’t really matter much. Do it how it will work best for you. Then post pictures so we can all be thinking, that is cool, why didn’t I do that with mine when I had the chance.
