Anyone Waterskiing (Slalom) with a Pulsare 2400?

I'm guessing you're looking to move up to a new 2400?

I'd be very surprised if the wake isn't nice and flat just like all other Checkmate outboards. Unless you're pulling professional skiers all the time, you'll want to have a lower pitch prop just for that purpose so people can get up easier.

I've pulled a few skiers with mine. Deep water start, slalom ski, weights of 180-195 lbs. No problem getting them up with a 23 tempest+ and Merc 225 pro XS with a pylon.

The best skier was surprised how little he could move the boat and the wake is pretty flat. Not a bad ski boat.

I would prefer to have less pitch for skiing to get the revs up, but holeshot is fine as is. With a kneeboard I'm only turning in the mid 2000 rpm range and minimum speed is around 18-20 with the JP down. I feel like this may be a little hard on the motor, but temps stay fine.

I am exploring some things...

Illmatic, you are correct, I usually ski between 29 and 33mph (less wake is better). Wakeboarding usually low 20's (more wake is better).

Anyone owned both boats (2100 and 2400)?

Thanks.

HD,

I've never skied behind a 2100 or a 2400, but I'll tell you what I know based on the sportfire, 'liner, 30 years of skiing and alot of time behind malibu's and mastercrafts.

No OB checkie is going to pull or hold speed like a competition ski boat. BUT, with my 225 EFI and a 19P prop, I can pull a big slalomer up fast enough. I'd say you would want the 300 on a 2400 and you could prop it down and have plenty o' power.

24' is getting pretty big for a slalom boat, but checkies do throw a pretty small wake - I'd figure a bit bigger wake than your old 'liner. The 2400 would probably be a great wakeboard boat though! I bet with some ballast, you'd have a huge wake.

My 'liner with about 900 lbs of ballast makes makes enough wake for me to do this... I've got another 400 lb bag I'm going to try next weekend.

Hey Anthony-Do you ever pull slalom with a 23p? On my Starliner with a 225 merc 23p 4 blade it takes a while to pull out on a deepwater start. I was really surprised. I figured a 225 should just pop you out. No?

Watersking

My son and his girlfriend called me from Big Bear Lake today. Took my 2100 BR out on a ski run. Motor is a 225 HO Evinrude. Prop is a 23 Merc High Five. With four people in the boat, 2 in front seats and 2 in rear seat it pulled Christine (sons girlfriend) out of the water like she was not even back there. Almost forgot, Big Bear Lake is at 6750 ft elevation.

The boat will run 60 on a Gps speedo with 2 people in it with the 23 High Five, at Big Bear. Other props, like a trophy or a turning point will run in the mid to high 60s at the same lake, but have a much worse hole shot.

The only thing outside of the CMC 6" power jackplate, is a set of Bennett trim tabs. They work great. No bow rise, just forward motion.

The reason that I don't know the exact top speed, is because there is a 35 mph speed limit on the lake and we have not let it loose accross the lake. (too many lake patrol).

I must say, the Checkmate 2100 BR IS the best boat that I have ever owned.

NICE!.....but I get that hi without the ballast on a 2100!:p

Checkmate is the best wake for Slalom skiing I have ever skied behind. I have been slalom skiing for 24 years behind many boats. The hole shot will never be a ski malibu, but at 30MPH it is a blast.....I know because I just skiied my a s s off.

I am unsure what boat the future holds, but thanks for the input.
