Boat Length

It has probably been asked before but how do you correctly determine the length of a boat.I have seen Predictors being 3 or 4 different lengths anywhere from 16 feet to 18 feet.Do you measure from the transom all the way to to front at the keel or lay a rule on the floor flat from the transom to the front. My Predictor was about 15'5" measured this way but I am not sure this is correct.

Measure down the center from the tip of te bow to the transom.

Check out the 1984 Brochure under the Showroom. Checkmate marketed the Predictor at 16'6".

I've heard they are measured around the rub rail, that would give a longer length than sraight down the center and thats what manufacters want, Make them sound longer than they are. Thats why so many new boats have built in swim platforms, they gain an extra 18" in boat length withought changing the hull length. and they look cool
