Deep Creek, MD - any info?

Hi Guys,

In our vacation spot search I came across Deep Creek, MD. It looks like a nice, medium sized lake (4000 acres) with some sandy shores. Also looks like a nice area with some off-the-water activities and about 10 restaurants on the water. My bro-in-law is a big white water kayaker so that water park is a huge plus for us.

Houses rent for about the same as on the larger lakes in northern MI.

The shape and location of the lake would probably shield the lake from the wind somewhat so that would be good for water sports.

My only concern is with the narrow shape and high amount of development, does it get very crowded?

Any info. or experiences are appreciated!!

Hi ther I have a place in Deep Creek and we love it, very nice place on week days can get crazy on weekends alot of fingers to hide or ski of fish can get rough on main part of lake but usually can find calm spot. I run a vision 220. Need anything else let me know.

Thanks for the info. Todd,

We are thinking about going there late July / Early Aug. The place we are looking at renting is on the water, on the north leg on the west shore. It is near that white water park and I think the wisp.

Is that a good location? I would guess it may be a bit busy, but we could cruise down the lake to ski.

We are looking for a place with a sandy beach for the kids. Google earth shows some shallow areas - not sure how much beach there is. We'll ask before they rent. Do you have any info. on where the beach areas are in general?

Thanks,
Anthony

Yes that is a good location if you want the activities of Wisp and a few resturants but it tends to get busy with no fingers to hide but you can always go find some place and the dam is straight down from that and that is were everyone goes to hang out and swim, its 76-80 feet deep. No real shallow areas per say that you have to worry about for the boat. there is a very nice beach at the park were you have to put the boat in the water, real nice sand and swings. Need anything else let me know.
