Eluder suggestons?

Taube

New member
Have a 79 eluder with 2.4 200 merc stock (except boysens), 8" setback, 26 chopper, 13 - 18 h2o psi, 5400 rpm, mid 60's..... Illmatic says he is running above 6200 - 6400 rpm same motor with predictor and 28 chopper, 5.5" setback. trying to get more rpm's. Keep raising this motor with good h2o psi or what? I put my 24 5 blade on and got 6200 rpm but speed decreased a little..... when I am wot with the 26 and engine level with water, my rooster is about 2 - 3' high... is there a point on this hull when the height won't do anymore?

Thanks
Dan

Things to think about:

Is your compression good? 120+ psi

Are your throttle plates opening all the way?

All six are firing?

Timing set good at WOT?

Not too rich or lean at WOT? (run WOT for a good distance and shut it down without pulling back the throttle, check the plugs color. Tan is good, black is too rich and slowing you down, white is DANGER too lean)

Do you have heavy wet foam under the floor?

Is the pad power-hooking? (use a hydraulic jack and a wood block about 4"X4", jack the block under the pad, does the pad 'hook' as you jack up the hull?)

Are you trying new props or used/rebuilt/tampered props?
