EXHAUST

GUYS I HAVE A PERSUADER 22FT WITH A 454MAG. IT HAS THRU THE HULL EXHAUST BUT SITS APPROX. 4INCHS BELOW THE WATERLINE AT SLOW SPEEDS. MY QUESTION IS... MY EXHAUST SITS UNDERNEATH THE SWIM PLATFORM SO I WAS WONDERING IF I COULD RUN A STAINLESS TIPS THAT WOULD ANGLE UP THAT 4 INCHS THEN OUT THE BACK TO MAKE IT LOUD ALL THE TIME. OR WOULD THAT RESTRICT THE PROPER WATER FLOW THAT NEEDS TO COME OUT THE PIPES. I GUESS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE CHEAPER THEN CUTTING AND PLUGGING NEW HOLES JUST TO RAISE IT THAT FAR.
THANKS FOR THE INPUT.

I have never seen exhaust exiting that low. I am not familiar with your hull. Can you post a picture of the engine, particuliarly the exhaust? Where does the water mix with the exhuast? What exhaust do you have? It is never a good idea to angle exhaust up after the water has mixed with the exhaust. Your engine will suck the water back in for sure. Your pipes should always angle down a bit.

IM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST A PIC. I COULD EMAIL ONE TO YOU. ITS JUST THE STANDARD 4INCH WITH THE BLACK FLAPPERS ON THE PIPES. THANKS FOR THE REPLY

If you want to post a picture, you have to send it to Chris. He will post it. If you want to send it to me, send it to, checkmate259@earthlink.net

I am interested in the angle of the pipes and type of system. Not the transom exits. My guess is that it is stock Mercury.

THE ONLY PIC I WOULD HAVE IS THE TRANSOM EXITS. THE BOAT IS CURRENTLY AT HIGH PERFORMANCE BOATS IN GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN. I DONT KNOW IF YOU SEEN ANY OF MY POST FROM LATE JULY IN 2005. I BLEW THE MOTOR UP AND THEY HAVE BEEN TAKIN THERE TIME ON A TOTAL REBUILD JOB.I TALKED TO THEM LAST WEEK AND THEY SAID THEY SHOULD BE 100% COPLETED ON THE JOB THIS WEEK. THEY HAVE HAD THE BOAT SINCE JULY 15 2005. I FOUGHT THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO PAY FOR A NEW MOTOR, AND FINALLY WON THE FIGHT IN SEPTEMBER OF 2005. BY THEN SUMMMER WAS OVER SO I JUST TOLD THEM TO TAKE THERE TIME AND FINISH ANY OTHER PROJECTS THEY HAD TO GET DONE. I SUCKED DEBRI OUT OF THE WATER WHICH EXPLODED MY IMPELLER AND I DIDNT NOTICE THE TEMP WAS PEGGED OUT. IT DID EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR. IM THE AMOUT OF $5000.00 TO BE EXACT. THIS HAPPEN THE SECOND TIME I USED THE BOAT FROM PUCHASING THE BOAT.SO IM EXTREMLY EXCITED TO HAVE IT BACK ON THE WATER WITH AN BRAND NEW MOTOR. THEY ALSO HAVE DONE A COMPLETE BELLOWS JOB , U-JOINTS, GIMBLE BEARING, AND REPAIRED THE CHECK VALVE ON THE TRIM MOTOR. SO I SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO THIS SUMMER. IM A LITTLE CONCERNED WITH BREAKING IN THE MOTOR PROPERLY TO.
ONCE I GET THE BOAT BACK ILL HAVE CHIS POST SOME PICS. I DO THINK IT IS A STOCK SETUP AS FAR AS THE EXHAUST GOES.

I didnt know about your motor problems. It is impossible to watch your guages all the time. I would recommend you install an overheat and low oil pressure alarm on the new power. It would have saved your old motor for sure.

You may be able to run the exhaust out the side of the boat... simply run a 90 degree silent choice actuator assembly... then you could rumble out the side of the boat... and for the late nights comming home, keep her quiet, so the neighbors could sleep.
