Hatch won't Raise

fiftyp

Active member
I need some help here.

So I wake up Memorial day sunny and 70 wash get the boat washed and
ready to go for the beautiful day off work, ony to find I can not raise
my hatch to get access to the engine compartment????

I tried removing the switch and jumping the wires, no good.
I checked all the fuses under the dash, no good.
I jumped power directly from the battery to the wires going to the lift motor, no good.

Any suggestions or tircks on how to get it up, so I can fix? As Of right now
I have NO way of getting into the engine compartment to work on the unit if the motor itself went bad.

Boat is a 1994 260 Enforcer.

Thanks in advance.

Their should be a fuse near the battires its in its own fuse holder by itself.

Hey Red...

Do you know what size fuse is supposed to be in there? I found it, and sure enough it was blown. Pulled a 30 out of it and just tried testing with
a 15 I had, and it popped right away.

what is the rating on the motor? then just size it to that:D assuming it is electric.......

??? Can't open the hatch to get at it. Just wanted to make sure I am not
covering up another problem with a bigger fuse.

I just looked at mine it has a 25 in it. I have never changed the fuse since I have owned the boat. Their is no amp rating on the motor anyway. You should judge by wire size. Dot not forget at the switch it sends power down the ground to get the hatch to work one way or another. You have 4 wires the ground at the switch is not always the constent ground.
