Hello from CT/ 1987

Hi,
I'm happy to be part of the group. I bought a 1987 Sportfire with a 135 Merc about a month ago. I spotted it on CL for $2200. I ended up grabbing it for $1500 since it didn't appear to be pumping water on the muffs. Also had a soft spot in the floor and seats were falling apart. But.... What a cool looking boat! I'm a fast car buff so I couldn't resist how it looked fast sitting on the trailer.
Turns out it needed a bit more work than I expected but I'm having a blast working on it. I look forward to finding some good info on the forum. Ha! I just noticed CT decided to change the model name lol.

How fast is a v6 inboard /outboard ? I know that a v8 is better , but is it powerful enough to water ski , tubing! Thank you

yes im working on proping it this summer i have a 23 pitch rapture ss prop it came with looking to run a turning point this year runs about 60 on a good day

I grew up with a 1981 Eluder with the 260 i/o merc. package. Through out the years my dad and I would spend the winter months tinkering on it. We built a 350,377,383 and eventually a pretty stout 400sbc for it. It turned a 27" Mirage plus to a little over 5k. It was always garage kept and looked like it just pulled off the showroom floor. Unfortunately it was burned to cinder 2 yrs ago in a garage fire. She went out like a warrior, up there in Vahalla still kicking butt!!!
