Don't want to steal this thread. Will start a new one.

The bottom seems solid even were it pealed. Only the thin layer of gelcoat pealed and the exposed glass is intact and dry. Maybe I hit something. Who knows?

New thread.

sorry to hear what happened to the jet mate! hope it is an easy fix!! that beautiful boat needs to be on the water!

Not that we don't have knowledgeable guys here but some of the people on Scream and Fly and the Hydrostream forums have a huge amount of experience with delamination if that is in fact what you have going on.

A boat that old might not have a core, not all checkmates did.
You may be correct. It seems to be a heavy hull. Is there a way to find out if it is all glass besides asking the old Checkmate staff?

If I knew for sure it did not have a core, I would be on it in a minute. The core is what worry's me. The boat for it's age has always stood what I dished out and seemed strong!!!!

Not sure anyone is left there that would know for sure. With the floor out, you can see from the inside if it has the balsa core or not.
If you have the boat fully insured, you can let the insurance company worry about all that. Sorry you hit that submerged log ;)
