Big lake. Good boating. Coupla restaurants. Getting real cold.
Where are you located?

I live in Clifton, NJ. Lake Hopatcong is most likely where I will be doing my boating come summer. Got any recommendations for a good marina with a good mechanic???

I am originally from Hackensack/Bogota. I have friends that live at Lake Hoptcong all year. The only thing I have ever heard is you have to look out for the old tree stumps that were left when they originally flooded the lake. I don't know if it is a problem anymore. I tried using the lake once, and just like Greenwood Lake, there were so many boats out on the water it was hard to enjoy the day.

I have lived on Lake Hopatcong for over 25 years and so far I've never seen or more importantly hit any stumps here. It does get pretty crowded on weekends, but during the week you see mostly fisherman. From Memorial Day to Labor Day there is a speed limit on weekends. I usually see a couple of checks every time I go out. Most of the jet skis and yahoos have gone for the year, so there is plenty of room to fly without having to constantly slow down for all the people that don't know what their doing. I was out Sunday and only saw a couple of other boats. I'm usually out there until first snow. Still plenty of great boating, come on out!

Tomb,

Welcome to the forum. :welcome: Heck, I just noticed you joined before I did.

It has been many years since I was there. I think the last time was for
the boat races. Do they still have them during the summer? I do remember
a country western bar that was in the middle of Rt. 23 not too far south of the lake exit, they had great bay scallops, better than what they serve here at the shore.

If I had more time to travel up I would definatly make the trip. I have a hard time getting in the water down here and I am only 5 minutes from the ramp.

Yeah, I'm more a reader than a writer. They still hold the races here. I enjoyed reading your Starflite restoration thread, you did a great job. I like the all white theme even tho my starflite is black.
