Ocean City Boating?

We may be going down there for a week this summer and I was considering bringing the Mate. We'll be just south of Ocean City at Castaways campground which is across the bay from Assateague Island. The campground has a ramp but they said the bay there is shallow. Any of the locals down there have any input? Maybe I should leave the boat home and bring the waverunners instead?

Never boated south of the Rt.50 bridge. But there are tons of boats running north of the inlet at Rt.50. Plenty of large boats, you just have to watch the buoy markers. You can see a lot of big fishing boats south, from Rt.50 bridge. Don't know how far south you are, and have never boated down that far. I do know they have pontoon tour boats that travel to Assateague, so it can't be to bad.

Thank you for the info. Its not too far south of the inlet, I think its south of the inlet but north of the airport. I could probably trailer up to the north side of the inlet if need be.

My parents have a place a mile south of the campground. Actually on a clear day you can see it. The water directly in front of the campground is shallow during low tide but if you idle into the channel its plenty deep. Ive been down numerous times with my flite and that section of the bay is surprisingly calm, ive never had any trouble. If you run a few miles south of the campground towards the Assateague bridge there's miles of deep wide open water to run in and plenty of things to do by boat in O.C. Also plenty of free ramps around. Hope this helps.

Thanks jross. It sounds like I'll bring the Liner. If my wife's cousin takes their Wrangler maybe I'll let them tow down the waverunners. :)

Take the boat, mind the markers, you'll have a blast!!! Take a set of binoculars till you're familiar with the channel markers,,, that is what I did. Also came in great for spotting bikinis LOL...:thumb:
