Wow! We have our own forum. Really cool. I will go first. Name: Skip, Age 63
Location: Los Angeles Ca.
Boat: 2007 2100 BR with 225 HO Evinrude
Color: White with Blue and black striping
Trailer: Sea Hawk single axle

I live near the Los Angeles Airport but do almost all of my boating at Big Bear Lake. 6750' elevation kind of zaps the power but it will still run over 60 mph on my gps speedo.

Lets see how many other Checkmate owners out West.

Kevin

21 BR 250XS white with blue and green

Most boating done in the Puget Sound and Columbia river.

Winnemucca Nevada, one boat is in signature, the other is a 1985 2800sx rigged from the factory with twin o/b currently in the process of a complete make over

:welcome: This is terrific. I can't wait to hear what is going on in our neck of the country! :surf:

Escondido, CA
1979 Eluder, 1988 175hp Mercury that I brought back from the dead.

Most of my boating is on the Colorado River between Laughlin and Yuma, primarily at Walter's Camp where a friend has a mobile home on the river.

Since rebuilding this boat, my goal is to boat on the best places in the west with it, including Powell, Tahoe, the Delta, etc.

Hey everyone in the new Pacific Mates Chapter, Jimway here. Exciting to see Checkmate owners in my neck of the woods. There's a few boats in the stables but I'm havin a lot of fun with the Playmate. Lots of water around here. Live right on a lake but there is a speed limit, can you imagine? Been spending alot of time on American Lake in Lakewood. The Sound is close but salt water always makes a mess. Looking forward to trying out some new spots this season. Raising a glass for all the Checkmate brethren at this time, Cheers

Wife and I used to live in SW Portland back in the early 90's. Loved running up and down the Willamette and Columbia. My biggest regret is that we never went through Cape Disappointment into the Pacific. Too scared by all the Coast Guard rescues we'd hear about every other day on the radio.
Beautiful boating part of the country you guys live in.
Can I be an honorary Pacific Mates member?
Our definition of the perfect day was morning skiing at Mt. Hood, a windsurf on the gorge on the way back into town and then an afternoon of water skiing on the Willamette.
The salmon fisherman HATED us.

Hey Sim, I think the honor would be ours. Having such a fine, upstanding, and knowledgable honorary member as yourself could only help the chapter. Nice area down in Portland, makes me think of the roadster show and swap meet and racing at PIR back in the day. What's it like out your way?

Boating is great out here! Lots of lakes, rivers and obviously, the Atlantic. Atlantic water is kind of big for a Check. 10 minutes south of Princeton, NJ where I live is an entry to the Delaware that going south is large enough for anything short of a cruise ship to head down to the Chesapeake and either head out to sea or down the ICW to Florida. We put in there for a lot of day trips down to Philly where there's all kinds of interesting ships, (Battleship New Jersey, Naval museum and shipyard, submarine, etc...) and restaurants to play around as well as a performing arts center we like to go see shows at by boat. You can also dock in Philly and walk around the city.
45 minutes north of us is Liberty State Park where we'll tow to and put in for a cruise around Manhattan and up the Hudson.
The boating season is only about half the year (unlike our Floridian brethren, may an angry gator choose to separate them from their gonads) but that's why the good Lord created skis.
There are very few parts of the country that don't have access to pretty good boating of one sort or another. Depends on how you define "good".
As far as I'm concerned if you've got a boat and you've got water It's all good.

My Info

Priest Lake, Idaho.

'02 Pulse 210 BR with a Yamaha 225 HPDI

Boat is perfect for water-skiing in the early morning, taming the white-caps in the afternoon, and looking good for the evening dinner cruise.
