painting a Stern Drive?

I have done it several times. As w/ any painting project its all in the prep work. Clean the drive and get rid of all loose paint etc. Don't let the bare metal sit exposed to air for long oxidation starts immediatly. A little trick I use is to get a small wire brush and scrub the drive w/ vinegar. Vinegar is a mild acid. Use a good primer and get the OEM paint so it looks original.

use a bronze or bass wire brush
the steel will cause corosion
it would e better to sand blast then paint
make sure you use a paint for aluminum
like aircraft paint or merc paint
the only antifouling aluminum paint is trilux
