Prop on 240 Convincor

Hi Everyone,

When we purchased our Checkmate, it didn't come with a prop. According to them, it depends on the speed you want out of the boat.

What is the right kind of prop for our 240 Convincor. 350 Mercruiser.

Right now it has a 4 blade 21 pitch. I will double check and make sure, but I am pretty sure thats what it is.

Would a 3 Bladed Mirage prop be good?

You should see how it likes that 21 four blade first. It might be a good all around prop for that boat.A 21 Merc.Laser II or 22 Turbo are some other 3 blade possibilities.Mirage props are a larger diameter and your engine may or maynot be able to turn it at the proper RPM'S. Mike at the Checkmate factory would be another good source of info also.

Erik,

According to Checkmate, Our 4 bladed prop is "experimental". Also, Checkmate said that the boat should do about 60 MPH.

With the current prop, we do about 45 @ 4000 RPM's.

Time to get rid of that prop

.Your RPM's should be around 4800 or so.I'd start with one of those props that I mentioned,21" laser II or a 22 Turbo.Personally I've had 22 turbos on a couple small block powered boats and liked their performance. However they were only 21' boats so the 21" Laser might be a little better suited for the job.Props are tricky, gotta test em out first, BEFORE you buy.
