I am writing to this site because of a BAD deal from a well known Checkmate Dealer.
I WANT TO BE CLEAR THAT I AM NOT BASHING THIS DEALER OR REPUTATION, BUT WANT OTHER CHECKMATE OWNERS AWARE OF HOW I WAS TREATED!
I recently was in the process of selling my current non checkmate boat, had $ 5,000 down on a $23,000 purchase price boat from the future owner. at that time I started looking for a first time checkmate boat 2100 pulsare bow rider ('05 or newer), found one at a dealer (boat was not advertised) , a leftover / demo '06 that the dealer was going to put a '07 optimax on it for me at $34,000 with trailer etc.., he sent me the spec sheet, we agreed on the price over the phone , I OFFERED TO SEND A CHECK TO HOLD TIL MY DEAL WAS DONE (approx. 2 weeks or less), HE DECLINED TO HAVE ME SEND MONEY ( $3,000 ) TO HOLD THE BOAT ??? , said "that it may complicate things lets just wait, BUT WE HAVE A DEAL" ??, so I sold my boat 10 days to the date of our last phone call, called him back three times to where I finally got a hold of him , for him to tell me that he sold the boat that we " had a deal on", but he was willing to make it right with me by selling me the boat that this person was trading in that purchased the original boat that I was going to purchase, As upset as I was at the time I agreed to let him send me pics of this boat ( thinking that maybe there was light at the end of the tunnel yet), that afternoon I did not recieve any pics , so I called him back again ,for him to tell me that the boat has not come in yet ( was suppose to be in in the a.m.) but tommorrow I will definitely get the pics to you , one way or the other you'll get one of these boats??,so I call him the next a.m. twice and left him messages that I have not recievd pics yet, needless to say since March, he still has not called me back, I guess I should have been warned when I received 2 private messages in my message box from other loyal Checkmate owners to be aware of this dealer, and get things in writing because he does not follow thru on all promised deals!!
It took alot of digging but I did find a loyal Dealer @ Riverveiw Sports and Marine in Elk River MN that sold me a new /leftover '05 2100 pulsare br w/ a '07 225 optimax for $2,000 less then I originally found in ND with no headaches delivered to my door.
Thanks to Lester and his gang for making this a smooth transaction.
