Repower ?'s on 84' Ambasador

First post for me here, what a great site you guys have! Just picked up a cherry 84' Ambasador...sort of. This is my first experience with a checkmate and I have to admit I'm impressed with the quality of the boat. Anyway the previous owner did not properly winterize the engine so it needs a new one (cracked block). It currently has the 260HP 5.7L which I imagine is plenty for a 20' long boat. I was just curious if a newer 5.7 such as one with vortech heads would be possible to install or should I just stick with the older style motor? The manifolds also look like they cracked so I'm in the market for new exhaust. Is there any setup that will retain the stock exit through the prop? I know everyone loves thru-hull but the boat will be on a private lake where noise is not tolerated. I really am looking for any info you guys can provide about the boat or motor. I appreciate the help in advance!
