Plan to hit the river on Saturday, maybe out to the Bay. Any body going to be out?? Calling for a nice day.

the bay????

sounds like a scary place to be in a predictor...:eyecrazy:

i might hit the river in the afternoon....

I will be haulin azz on mine this weekend because motor is fone, the rest of the parts I need will be here early next week, computer gets sent out tomorrow, andm motor mounts WILL be finished this weekend. I am going to try like hell to have it ready for next weekend. I am anticipating a friday night motor drop.

I think most people launch at the Zilwaukee bridge... but the only DNR ramps I could find are by M-46- either Wickes Park or across the river. Someone else may be able to help.

Anyone been on both the Saginaw and Detroit rivers who could offer a comparison? I want to be able to get to AT LEAST one this year, but which one should be first. My issue is that I have to coordinate with a co-pilot- my wife is dead set against taking our 10mo son out.

We usually launch at the southern most part of the river. At Saginaw Marina by 46. Zilwaukee is a good launch as well. It is about 6 miles north of the Saginaw launch.

As for the river itself, The Detroit river is probably better. I have never boated on it but it just looks better from shore.

The Saginaw river is all brown and nasty but it is full of boats and beer. :bigthumb:

Well, the Wickes launch is closed. There is a City launch at the end of Lee street. That is the largest launch, but the Zilwakee launch is the nicest and easiest to get to.

As far as what to compare it to, I have never been on the Detroit River, but on the Saginaw if you put in in Zilwakee, you can run wide open for several miles before Bay City. In Bay City, there is a bunch of no Wake crap, but there is also Hooters and a few other places to stop. Overall a good time, and the water is usually pretty flat.

My plans for this weekend have kinda changed, my first mate, who is nine, had to have an emergency operation to remove her Apendix Wednesday night, so I may not make it out, not sure yet.

If you run around on the bay, let me know how it goes! I'd love to find out what the limit of our hulls is (without actually risking a capsize)!

Come on Buss:poke:......don't be scared......just skip the tops man!

Beleive it or not,k ive that that boat in some 3 footers, it really was just skippin across the tops going about 65-70 ish, the worst part was slowing down i thought i was gonna stuff it in into a wave....as a matter of fact it was a little scary...... scary like when condoms break....

You could say that..

btw....if somebody gets thier boat back together, i bet it could break down some big 'ole waves...... :poke::poke:

I have been out on the Detroit river many times . And its a little scary being out in my Trimate II . Unless you stay back in behind Grosse ile and stay out of the main channel . If I take my dads four winns out then ill run from Elizabeth park in Trenton right in to downtown Detroit usually to the GM building then turn back and head out into lake Erie just passed humb bug marina . You can go all over on the Detroit river .

I second that its tuff redoing a boat on one income.
