short lower on 283 concivcor

I have a 1995 283 convincor. Has anyone here tried a short lower like 2inches on these hulls? Do they gain speed from this? It is a single stroker motor with a Procharger. I am close to 80 and wonder if I would gain with shortie housing.
Thanks
Justin

I have wondered the same thing myself. I have access to a -2 lower and I might try it this year. I have tried a spacer in the past, and the boat slowed down a lot. I would have to check my notes but I think it was 3 mph slower with the 1" spacer. I wish I knew how all these 283's are getting 80 mph with 600 horsepower, mine is much slower (GPS @71). 26P Bravo 1 spinning 5100 WOT.

I have been wondering about maybe a standoff box with a 3" rise to it. Then you could space the lower down to the perfect position plus you have the added advantage of the setback. I will have 600 hp in my 253 very soon (within the next week and a half) and I have wondered this myself.

Why guess when you can pick up the phone and ask Harold or Jason from Kunkles Marine. I feel this way because they have been hot rodding Checkmates while most people where still in diapers.

Oh 1 more thing they have stuck more single engine deep V Convincors over 100 mph with less HP than anyone else.
