Stern Jack

Shameless

My new ZT 240 has not even gone into production yet and I am already thing of way too make it faster. I am putting the 6.2 Litre in her and do not wan to supercharge the motor until the warranty is out. Does anyone have any experience with the stern jacks or any opinions on them? Any other suggestions on what can be done with this boat, I have not seen to much info on it or on the 6.2. I am an outboard nut and love tinkering with those but I feel kind of stuck on the stern drive as far as not voiding the warranty.

Bill,

The Checkmate already has a notched transom, on our 260-ZT this sets our drive back about 6 inches. Personal opinion, lets talk to Kip about ordering the boat with a raised "X" dimension. This would be similiar to the 300 Convincor on our website. The Raised X dimension would set the engine higher. Less drive in the water, less drag, more performance. The transom jack will pretty much void your Mercruiser warranty, as they are extremely tough on the gimble housings, lots more torque/pressure on your drive because it's sitting farther back. They do work though. Rick

Thanks Rick,
I did check with Kip a couple of weeks ago about the X-dimension and he said it is about as high as I want to go. ( about 2 inches above what merc recommends). Also, I talked about the notched transom when I was at the factory, and the 240 does not have it I guess I will leave it stock until the warranty runs out then probably next winter have a super charger mounted to the motor. Hey, I just got an idea. If I put a blower on it, can I name the boat "blow me"?

We have someone running around the bay with a Scarab...it's called "Checked out"! Don't you think thats a better name for a Checkmate. You can always buy the boat without power and have Drez build you a motor. His puts out a tad over 600hp on a dyno... thats not to bad, still idles well, still can control it. Most performance engines don't like to idle well, which makes docking, trailering, etc. that much more interesting.
