Sticky trim solenoid?

1980 Predictor

New member
when I activate the "up" switch on my tilt/trim it doesn't always work. The solenoid will click but the trim motor does not go. If I keep trying it will eventually go. "Down" always works.

How do I fix it?

wrap it with a hammer...??

i think a new one was like $40 (i could be wrong) I tell my wife that every part for the checkmate is "about $40"...... I think she is catching on. :rof:

That's funny Chris. I tell my wife that everything is gonna cost "about 40-50 bucks". Must be cause we both have Checkmates.
Gotta tell you though, that 40-50 bucks has sure added up over time.

I have a simular problem on my 97 convincor 220. The port side tab is stuck half way down. You can hear the motor working so I don't think its the switch. You can also push the tab down with your hand and it springs back up to where it was. Could it also be the solenoid? Where do I locate it? Any help would be appreciated.

tap it with something like a hammer or a metal bar. not too hard, just enough to rattle it. Ultimately, replacing it is the best option. Average price is around $40 like previously said.
