stuck in forward

Ok, so took the enchanter to the mechanic to put the lower unit on after working on it, shifter was stuck in forward when i took it. got it back yesterday all fixed got it home shifter is in neutral and stuck there. is this because of the sub zero temps???????

since we spoke on the phone, and i apologize for not knowing who you were, subzero tems do not make any difference.. as we were speaking on the phone, i had my hands full.. race boat in the shop, and one inthe water.. snippy as they were.. i have to apologize for being a bit short. and this is my day off

your shift should work fine, sub zero, above zero, artic zero.. shouldnt matter what the temp is your shift should work. please disconnect your shift, upper cable, and see if your shifter works, run the process as i said over the phone..

when they put the lower unit back on they did not clock the shifter right

you have to unbolt the lower lower it down about 3 inches put the shifter in forward the turn the shift shaft on the lower untill the prop will nut turn backwards

slide the lower back up bolt it down and try again

remember there is a bolt under the anode at the back

good luck daren

oh then call whoever serviced your lower that you want your money back

if it is stuck in neutral they may have taken the shift handel off at the helm

if they did not put it together corectly it wont pull the lock pin out when you squeeze the handle

try pushing the neutral button and see if you can move the throttle only

they may have tried to readjust the cable instead of fixing it right

sorry for all the bad news

this is not rocket science and you would think that a marine tech could do this in his sleep

you might want to find a new mechanic

i would hope a shop wouldn't do such a repair.. i promise you, in my shop that would be a trip to the woodshed, and then after the hosp, unemployment line.

when i took it there it was stuck, when i got it back it was correct but stuck. Talked to them today they said it was inside for 2 days b4 they worked on it and worked fine. sat out for 2 days b4 i got it and wont move, said the would take care of it but must be water in control.

long ago i was stationed on the uscgc midgett.. spent most of the time up in alaska, and rememberd the days beating the ice off the side of the ship with baseball bats, but when we had to go do a boarding, or a rescue call, not one cable ever broke, not shifted. the lil boats did, and so did some of the crew, but dang they shifted.. and if it is water in the cable.. thats freezing up.. it should be replaced.. water isn't supposed to be in there
