Stupid Newbie Question?

I'm a stupid newbee as well, but as far as I know if your exhaust is routed through hull you should see the water coing through or your not pumping water.
jason

Water is picked up at the bottom of your sterndrive unit (row of tear shaped holes) pumped through the block and into the exhaust manifolds for cooling. The water and exhaust mix at the riser elbow and the mixture blows out the transom or through the propeller hub.

Water has to be circulated in the exhaust manifolds or they will become excessively hot and be a fire hazard.

yup running without waterflow can get into ugly money... things like melted exhaust hoses, overheated engines.. about the worst that can happen is you'd trash an engine..
