Me!!!!!!!!!!

So I decided to take the Predictor out today, as it will probably be the last weekend this year with temps over 80 here in Eastern NC. Got to the ramp, and apparently I'm not the only one with this idea. I wait my turn, start backing down the ramp and...the boat rolls off the trailer.:eyecrazy: :pissed: :brickwall: :yell:

Luckily there are 4-5 guys standing around and I winch it back onto the trailer while they lifted up the back (including one Baja owner, so they're not all bad:rof:) Fortunately the damage was confined to the back bottom edge of the pad where it scraped along the cement, and didn't even penetrate through the 'glass.

I didn't allow this to spoil my day, and went out and had a good run. Sadly the Baja guy and myself never were in the same spot at the same time, so no speed contests. (It was like a 24'er with a single drive.) I did see a guy with what looked to be a MX-15 down near Washington, NC.

My guess as to why it happened - last week I was trying to see if the winch handle I found in the trailer I picked up last month would fit on my trailer (as it's bent a little.) I guess in the removing and reinstalling I must have flipped the catch lever. The rear straps held the boat on the trailer until I got there. Guess I need a safety chain on the front of the boat:irked:.

Since I have Starboard bunk slides on my trailer and they are slicker than S--T I have to be very careful that I don't have the same situation. I have come close a few times. Hpefully it won't take too much work to correct the damage.

Safety chains are you friend. Had a friend's dad that used to go to the ramp and then disconnect the chain before he went down. I argued with him for 5 mins until I gave up. He told me they were there only for when you are towing. That is about the only time you may be able to go without one. Needless to say the trailer went over the crest of the ramp and then boom. On the ground the boat went. His boat didn't turn out so well. Nice that people lent a hand to put it back on the trailer.

bunk trailer only for me.....

It can happen with bunks pretty easily.
Dad used to unhook at the top of the ramp and then found out why he shouldn't. A friend was backing him down and started to veer off course. He slammed on the brakes and off went the boat. Luckily the azz heavy old searay hit quick and stopped before it was all the way off the trailer.

I had a guy show up with a very very nice car on a trailer.with no drive shaft in it.He unhooked it at 7 in the morning and when i got there he ask me where do i want it.I told him where to put the car. Not knowing he had unhooked the car.I went to unlock the shop .I hear the crash. The dumb butts car rolled into a rock crawler. I took some pics but I agreed not to post them anywhere. He will see this post:lol:
I will blame the post on a new laptop and a few blue mountains
you will have to do better to get that title

I couldn't believe the amount of idiots with dead batteries in their boats Saturday at the shoot out.:thumb:

That is some funny stuff. The guy was loading that Ford a little fast . I wonder what he was thinking would happen. You cant fix stupid.. Thanks for that one.

they are as good with a camera as they are with loading trailers. . .why the hell was he filming in the first place?

"this is so awesome, we are loading our truck onto a trailer" . . .

guess it all makes sense really: idiocy all around.

to the OP. . .I think you'd be surprised at how often this happens. when I was young we would always unhook the boat before backing down the ramp, and once we got new rollers it rolled right off (never did it again). ive seen it happen countless times since.

I remember reading that the truck would not start so they were rolling it down the hill to load it on the trailer as they did not have a winch. but the forgot to put the emergency brake on on the pulling truck.

it could have been worst.

I have a bunk model trailer, but I have the safety chain hanging there also. I am going to start using it, because this is something I would do.

Also the video is F'in hilarious! Should be called how to lose $5000 in a day.
