Thru Hull exhaust possable?

New member
Hello, I have baught my first checkmate. I am hooked my boat is a 20' 1990 senator w/ 5.8 omc the exhaust is now thru the prop only. I like my toys loud!! how hard and how much cost is involved in getting the pipes strait out the back. any other info on my boat would be helpful. thank you

My buddy has a 1980 Fomula 18', with an OMC 350. It had through the prop exhaust. We put some stock Mercruiser manifolds on it and cut 3" holes in the back and screwed on some tips. It worked great and was easy. I think he had to block of the original exhaust port behind the engine that went to the prop.

This is what the back of my Senator looks like, I can get some pics of the inside of the motor compartment, I dont think it would be all that hard to do, just need the proper parts.

Nice pic, Nerd.

FastRide - Welcome to Checkmate country..I suggest putting some planning into your upgrade, as there are a lot of options available depending on where you're going with the engine (cam can effect your decision).

I had my Enchanter changed over from thru-prop to thru-hull a couple of years ago. I bought all the parts, including aftermarket aluminum manifolds, from another member on here. I had a marina do the work and it cost me about $1200 and that included a few other things i need done to the boat. The parts cost me $500 so all together i have $1700 into my conversion, but like i said i had other stuff done at the same time. If you have a marina do just the conversion than you'd probably get out for about $1200 or less. I am so happy with the way mine came out, the shop did a very profesional job and damn does it soud good!! Good luck man!
