trophy

ok, so with advise from y'all I bought a brand new trophy plus 24p 4 blade. Got it on ebay...came with hub kit in it, but no thrust washer. Im thinking its specific to the hub? how do I know what i need, dont think the old one is right.

also I didnt realize there is a barrel size difference. My old being big, the new smaller. i read that i should install a sealing ring...what is the thought on that?

Can you just contact seller about it ? I will have to check the thrust washer on mine, however, something tells me they are the same.

Mike

i wrote him...havent heard back yet, i just looked a little closer...theres a plastic insert that reduces the square hole to shaft size that is removable. Is that for a different lower unit? my old prop didnt have that insert. when i remove it my thrust washer fits????

I just found this....but it doesnt state if i still need a thrust washer?

ggwhaler,Part # 23-856163Q 1 is a plastic bushing that can be used with any Flo-Torq kit but is designed for and included with the kit for Mercury Tempest Plus, Bravo 1, Revolution 4 and Trophy Plus propellers.
Mercury found that when high performance boats were using these propellers in surface piercing applications, the propeller could develop some wobble. The bushing simply supports the front of the propeller on the propeller shaft. It is just sort of extra insurance.
I cannot think of any Whaler application that would really need it and I have been advised that it is not necessary under normal operating conditions, but like I said, it will fit in the drive sleeve of any Flo-Torq hub and will do no harm.

all of the merc props i have owned have come with a thrust washer and a few are of slightly different thicknesses. i'm pretty sure the one that came with my high 5 is different than the trophy... I'd put it on

after some research, it looks like the thrust washer is needed, unfortunately i cant find what the part # is for the required thrust washer. I can find complete flo-torque 2 hub kits and the factory thrust washer separate, but this prop is far from factory.
The thrust i have seems to bring the prop almost out of the housing.

Any one know what the part # is or the actual thickness of the thrust washer the flo-torque 2 with front bushing comes with? Its for a merc lower unit...

on the mercury parts express site this is what I found...Looks like mine and will be the same as mine if your motor is a mercury.

SKU: 835467Q01

Width: 4.125 inches
Height: 2.75 inches

 • Price : $27.98

Fits the following product when used with Flo-Torq II hub propellers

Hope this helps.

Might want to look for a whole kit for a deal somewhere being the washer is almost 30 + shipping.

Good luck

Mike

thanks mike, I wish it had better dimension description, cause what is listed for size, is impossible :sssh:

isnt the thrust washer applicable to the prop your using as well?...Im using the trophy plus not a merc prop.

The thrust washer i have fits perfect without the front hub insert that comes with the flo-torque kit....the insert is suppose to stop wobble at high speed and is recommended for this prop and hub kit...

You lost me. I thought you were looking for the bronze washer ? The plastic (delrin) sleeve's insert is the area of concern ? I run a Mercury Tempest +; you have a Mercury Trophy + right ? They go together the same way. What motor do you have ?

yes mike, looking for the thrust washer, not all are bronze though. I have thrust washers, i have 3 different props, all with different hubs. From what i have read, the hub and prop will dictate the thrust washer size. The one you show is the right one, however I think i have that one, just trying to confirm the actual size of it...trying to save buying another one....
