Ok tryin to get a little more out of this 200 ...I have a 23p ss ....will a 24 be next for more speed?..i have 65mph now but theres more motor, have to back it down to stay at 5500 to 5800 rpm...she runs constant at 65mph and is still pretty good out of the hole...of course the 19p i have stands it on end!!

did i mention the 23p I have is a 3 blade x 13 1/4"....how about a 4 blade 24p with more diameter? will i get more speed from bigger diameter, more pitch or number of blades...or all of the above?

A 4 blade is usually better out of the hole and generally a better all around prop for cruising and watersports. However a 3 blade will handle better at top end and be good for 1-3 mph more top speed. Moving from a 23p 3 blade to a 24p 4 blade may not get you any more top speed if thats what you're after. Thats why I suggested a 25p 3 blade. It won't get out of the hole as fast, but should allow you to let her rip on a high speed run.

you need to spin that motor to 6000 to get max hp...55-5800 is to low. i know guys running that motor to 7k:eyecrazy: at that point you dont want the oil injection hooked up though, pre mix it then you know its getting lubed;) 65 is most likely about all you will get outa that setup, is there any setback on it right now?

she a 1983 motor...so Its always premix for me!...It appears to have low hrs on it as i did have the heads off and no wear inside, I have 125ish compression on all cylinders....but 7000rpm? wow...no set back yet...small land and sea crappy jack plate though...Im looking at 10 to 12 inch set back this off season...still warm here so playin with the prop first..looks like for now I should try a 3 blade 24p or 25p...and what about diameter?

do some searches on here for threads that i started or "illMATTic" he has a starflite thats setup right and i used to have a starflite that i dialed in. i know thats a different hull but pretty close. mine had a 12 inch setback/ jackplate running the prop shaft height at 2" belowe the "v" at the best of 65.7 gps. that motor without any setback wont turn a 25 3 blade fast enough.....you will lose speed. buy one if you want but you will be wasting your money. when i had mine dialed in i was spinning a 23p 3 blade tempest plus just over 6k:thumb: i did try a tempest plus 25 3 blade and couldnt spin it. hope this helps....

Ross, speaking of hull style..what do you think of the enchanter?...not up on all the different types yet?

i have never owned one, but the outboard enchanter is very similar to the starflite(which is what i had) i loved the boat for inland boating! it was awesome and a head turner:thumb: i since have moved closer to big water and tried it.....that didnt work. i now have a 251 which i love:cheers: i will never talk smack about any checkmate hull, it just depends on what water you are going to be on... just an fyi- "yellowfiero88" is very up on this hull, maybe shoot him a private message and ask him how he liked his outboard. he has had both the outboard and the i/o version if i remember right:bigthumb: good luck! any other questions just shoot:cheers:

I'm no expert but I do believe that the Enchanter hull is a little faster than the Flite/Liner hull. Maybe it has a bit of a pad on it? Either way I'd say a Trophy might be just as fast as a good 3 blade, the extra bow lift can make a good bit of difference.

i agree but with that vintage motor your pushing it.....

The enchanter does have a small pad...and i seem to have plenty of lift with the prop i have...but not sure I have the trim right...another words i can bring the bow up with trim, but is that hurting my speed? I have a low water pick up, so no worries there. It sure is cool to see a 20 ft rooster too:bigthumb:

Ill have to get the boy to take some pics of a pass to see what im really doing...

Not trying to start a fight, but 4 blade will out handle a 3 blade 2 to 1! Regardless of speed , the 4 blade keeps a better grip on the water with less space between the blades to increase slip, which means less steering torque and less chine walk. Also. on most Checkmate o/b hulls, the trophy+ 4blade is faster than most 3 blade props. I dodn't know what prop Wildman is running on his 96mph Pulsare, but it ain't no 3 blade. Tried both on my 2000 Pulsare, 4 blade was faster and handled 3 times better!

I can get a 13 3/4 x 24p trophy plus for 250.00 at auction...would that be a good start?...says needs hub? will my hub fit from my 3 blade?

well i plan on 12 inch set back...but not till spring....still deciding on hydro or cable steering........excuse my ignorance but what do you mean "to tall"

By tall I mean a little too much pitch, a 23 would be better if your not adding setback, since you plan on adding setback anyway the 24 should be just fine.

A jackplate with setback will also improve the handling of the boat and if you had any chine walk before it should be gone.
