Will my 115 Merc turn a Merc v6 5 blade prop

204.enticer

I know of a Mercury High Five prop for sale, but I'm wondering if my 2002 Mercury 115 can turn it and how well would it work. Here are the prop specs.

Part # 48-815746 24 small Hub
Pitch 24
Diameter 13"
Spline 15
Hub diameter 4"

I know these props are for the v6 Mercury's but I'm curious with the smaller diameter and extra blades, will it work for the smaller engine. Currently running a 21 3 blade aluminum and it's bouncing off the limiter. Seeing about 50 mph. Can't really try this prop out. Haven't been able to try out any other stainless props to test and tune. The 115 is a inline 4 motor(carbed) hanging off the back of my 1980 Enticer with no jack plate.

Any input would be great.

I will preface my answer with, "you never know until you try", however, I would be surprised if it runs efficiently with that much prop, it will turn it, but you will probably really be working that motor and where you have no jackplate, that baby is buried..

you probably couldn't get to the rpm range that you need.

curious to know what you decide and how it works, so give an update.

Yea that's what I'm worried about. I'm not sure if I'll get the rpm out of it. Hoping someone would be able to give me a better idea. I realize you never know till you try but I can't test it. It's cheap enough that if it doesn't work, I can re sell it but rather not go through that process. The reason I ask is because of the smaller diameter and extra blades, will those two factors be enough to work in my rpm range?????? I one day plan to put a jack plate on but not this summer.

I have found that I'm happier with less prop wanting more than too much prop wanting to go less. I can't really help you weigh in on your dilemma with anything substantial though.

You should be running faster than that with a 21 pitch prop and a 115. Your current prop is a piece of junk. I'd try a good 21 pitch before I'd try a good 24 pitch. You'll find you have a much harder time turning a quality prop than the one you have now. Theres a lot of junk Mercury branded aluminum props out there.
