Just curious what everyone is has been hearing about Hustler trying to purchase Fountain and Baja by Fountain.

:sssh: With statisics as I posted below it makes a man wonder how they could buy Fountain.

Hustler Power Boats is a private company categorized under Marine Contractors & Designers and located in Calverton, NY. Our records show it was established in 1998* and incorporated in New York*. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of $5 to 10 million and employs a staff of approximately 20 to 49.

:sssh:

Fountain Powerboats Inc is a public company categorized under Boats-Manufacturers and located in Washington, NC. Our records show it was established in 1979* and incorporated in Nevada*. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of $50 to 100 million and employs a staff of approximately 250 to 499.

I am no rocket scientist but I know how to use a calculator. The numbers just dont add up to me.

I have never really been a Hustler boat fan. But hands down Hustler beats any boat company on sex appeal. Hustler has always pushed the sex appeal image as long as I can remember. I sometimes look at their adds with all those stripper girls and think man that boat looks good. But I find myself looking at the girls more than the boat.

How about your own Hustler BIKINI

They even have their own dress line for women

I owned a 38 sling shot in 1999 the boat for its size to powere ratio was one of the fastest on the market in those days. The stepped hull was another story. It turned like a Skater -- You best be careful. As far as the quality goes Fountain was not even close!! The paint -- the gelcoat were comparable to MTI.

wow....I have never really seen many Hustlers, I just checked out the web site, and those look like great boats. And yes, Hustler certainly has the sex appeal perfected.

I saw a new 388 slingshot at the Chicago Boat Show, and was not really inpressed when you got up close. Gelcoat had many flaws and attention to detail was not there.

What year did you see the boat at the Chicago show?? Hustler rarley does boat shows outside of Miami or Las Vegas.

If I cared about Hustler, Fountain, Baja or any other manufacturer
I would look up their website. I'm all about Checkmate!:thumb:

I honestly have never even looked at one of their websites because
I couldn't care any less about them, any of them!! That's why I
really hope Checkmate Marine Inc. not only survives but flourishes!

I would however like to see some of the best check hulls used and
maybe tweaked to perfection instead of using baja molds in new
production, but boat manufacturing is not my trade and maybe, just
maybe the powers that be at CMI know what they are doing, so I'll
give the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

Checkmates forever! Hustler etc ...who cares!!

Not to offend you -- myself or any other checkmate owner but C/M's are not even in the same class a a Hustler MTI or Nortec and should not be compared to them. -- the list goes on and on. These boats are on a different plane all together. C/M's are an affordable performace / family boat. The people in the market for the above mentioned boats are not stoppin by any checkmate dealer for comparisions. You could probally by three new 35 beckmates for what one 38 slingshot would cost you new!! A ford is a great car but it ain't no mercedes benz or rolls royce.

No offense taken! But you miss the point!! I dont go to a Checkmate
website to see whats going on with Hustler, Cigarette, or any other
but a Checkmate and I'll bet none of the Hustler owners spend time on
a Hustler website to see whats up with Checkmate. I don't speak for
the membership here, only myself, and my post was simply sharing my
take on the matter. Checkmate is my taste and my price range, so that's
what's happening in my world and what I'm into. I'm guessing it's the
same for you since you are here and own a Checkmate, not a Hustler.

People can post and say what they want here, as can you or I, so
I appreciate your input and opinion even though they differ from mine!

You made an excellent point. I only go on C/M's website now because for me, dollar for dollar this boat is the best buy on the market hands down. The constant improvements to the interior -- paint schemes for the prices they are charging are good enough for me. In fact I believe after this weekend my boat will be sold and I am ordering a new mate. I was actually thing IO or a 24 long deck but I can not give up the speed just yet, anyway -- If you visit the site you will see the new back seat for the 2100's and now the new front seats for the same price !!! Hey thats Kool!!!
