Enticer Speeds??

Ive got an 81 Enticer with a 115 tower, manual jackplate, solid mounts and hydraulic steering. Currently running a 21p laser II prop. What numbers should I be seeing? I also have a 23p chopper prop I havent run all out with yet. It runs great with my setup but it chines like a mofo. I need to get more time behind the wheel for that one.

What up Damien? I'm not a prop expert but I thought the even #s are small hub and odd#s are large hub props and that the inlines are small hub motors. I was able to get up to about 60 with a 22p Laser II and it would start walking a bit over 55 or so. Have you blead the steering this year? You don't want any air in there.

Yoo Chris, not much just been working and trying to make my way to the river. I blead the steering all right! I ended up having to replace fittings on the system. Long story, I blame my dad lol

Yeah my bad i got my numbers wrong. Im currently running the 22p laser II that came with the boat, and have a 24p chopper when I dont have passengers and can get some real seat time with it.

Last time I was out, i got to 52.3 gps with a passenger and small cooler. Seemed a little low to me, I need more

With that 22p I know I hit 58 several times with Satasha with me. I know she's with me because she's only one with GPS on their phone. :D

Where is the bullet in relation to the pad?

6 inches below. i raised it about a quarter inch when i did the solid mounts to help more with the chine. Don't want to go too high and loose water pressure

I had the top three holes of my lower plugged and I was able to run it three inches below the pad with good pressure. Could be an option for you.

You could get up to about 3 inches below before you started to notice a drop in pressure. Put side scoops on and you could go up to an inch below.

Your chine walk is due to your motor flopping around and you are using too much positive trim. Its dangerous. Fix it. Tighten up the motor mounts, improve the steering steering and jack to motor up.

Solid mounts+good steering+LWPU+ LOTS of power = mid 90's+ in an Enticer. Mine cruises rock steady at 80+ MPH and I could take my hands off the wheel were I so inclined .

Ill have to look into those scoops and raise the motor more. I already have solid mounts i installed last season and hyd. steering. Trust me the motor isnt flopping, its rock solid.

6 inches is way too low. Before spending money on scoops you may not need bring the prop centerline up to 3 or 4 inches below the pad.

You need a jack plate and to get that motor out of the water. 6 inches is way too deep and anything above neutral trim just pushed the ass end down and makes it difficult to control . Ideally your prop wash will be shooting straight out the back with the prop center 2 inches below to an inch over the pad. Might be time to look at a LWPU as well.

In case you are still wondering about this, I ran that beast with a 26p laser and hit 64mph gps. That was with just me onboard, and wrestling the chine the whole way. I don't remember where I ended on the jackplate, I'm sure I posted it on here somewhere though, probably around the November 2010 timeframe.

Found it- from 8.10.2010:
... I finally found the magic height for my Enticer and the 26p Laser II. Spun it to 5950 and 64 GPS this past Saturday, 12% slip. ...

But I failed to mention the motor height. From 7.22.2010:
... Measured and realized I'm running at 3-3/4" below the pad. Surprising, but I think that's the best height I've found so far. Hit 63 GPS with ease in under half a mile at 5600 RPM with just me and a 1/4 tank. Also felt like I was getting better bow lift today.

So I assume I went up another 1/4-1/2" with the motor and ended up at ~ 3.25 below the pad, which gave me some more speed on 8.10.

Thanks for the heads up Top. I got around to raising the motor a little more at the end if last season but havent had a chance to test it yet. Just dont seem to have free time for it anymore, sadly.
