    Thanks wired! That's the advice i was looking for. I think i just found a 140 v4 identical to what is on the back now. So i will probably go that route as it "should" be an easy plug and play swap and i can just put my old motor in the corner of the shop and possibly use it for parts if need...

    I am the proud new ow er of a 1979 trimate 2. Came with an evinrude 140 v4 (1989 supposedly) on it with one bad cylinder. So now I am in s eachof a decent used evinrude to swap out with it. (Yes cylinder is sired too far past honing and rebuilding for a reasonable amount). So I have sources...
