    Speed vs stability?

Power to weight ratio, and setup are big wins for the ob boats in that size. You can trim your out drive out to lift your bow but only so much. The faster ob boats are on hydraulic brackets( don't remember what you call them) so they are set back much further and can also raise the prop higher...

c channel trailer under 28 ft boat.

My trailer is old (1993) and was used in salt for a while so it has some surface rust spots, I called myco to get a quote on replacing it 16,000 was what I got for a new aluminum. So mine is getting blasted and repainted this spring, not sure what myco uses for paint but it has held up very well

    Checkmate goodies.... Bad news

I know if you want hustler stuff, you have to call the factory and tell them what you want and they have it made for you, nothing really stocked and last I looked they ditched that portion of the website. Maybe they're headed that way with cm?

    ZT 280 chine walk

Blue printing is actually more common than you think, a bunch of well known brands offer it as a factory option, as well as some of the super high end brands as standard. They do the gel coat thicker in the molds with the plans to sand it out. Cm is putting out a really nice product at a...

    ZT 280 chine walk

Check 253 I hear the ones with the ventilated bottoms ride real nice! Op, On the chine issue, as long as it's still tracking in a straight line you're usually ok, props make a big difference in how they handle. Getting something that will give you the right balance between bow and stern lift...

I/O engine oil changing kit. What do you use?

I did the self contained unit from west marine. It works fine

Carb engine choke / starting issues

The mechanical fuel pumps allow the fuel pressure to bleed down. I have pressure gauges on my feed lines, I usually start the motors in the driveway before I leave to go boating. If I haven't used the boat since the previous weekend I can watch the gauges working their way up to pressure. An...

    PART OUT 253 CONVINCOR?

If it were me, I'd sell the motor and good running gear. Then find a takeout stock motor and drive and try to sell the boat whole like that

Bravo One XZ outdrive - any feedback?

Good drive in my opinion, you get the steel tower and bigger shafts from an xr, but the better wearing helical cut gears. The straight cut gears are stronger but they rob hp and seem to wear out sooner. The xz gears also have a thicker floor on them than the standard bravo gears, I have them in...

    242 sport.

I had a 97 242 sport, sounds like he is going off of speedo speeds, a 500 hp will get you right around that speed with a 24 prop
