    LU and prop Qs

I have a 4-3/4 lower unit (78 150 v6), but I have a prop, for a xr4 / I6 (4-1/4 LU) that I would like to use. It fits, but is there any down side to running the smaller prop hub, like Performance? If so I guess it will be for sale 22p x13.5 laser II like new.:shakehead: Thanks, Jared

    Help with merc timing

Well, I have a book and the only thing it says is to set timing at cranking speed with the black box, it has nothing in it about removing it lol. Im pretty sure the idle box raises the timing 5 deg if it falls below 500rpm, and retards timing 5 deg after 5000rpm. So I need some input on the...

    Help with merc timing

I read somewhere that if I were to remove (which I did) the idle control box, little black box beside the fly wheel, that I would have to set the timing, 23deg @ wot. If this is correct, what is the safest way to do this? Should it be in the water or under a load? Its a 1985 merc 2.0 XR2, on the...

Trimate II Setup - Attention 175Checkmate

Todays test was the 24p chopper @ 3.5 below keel. Water pressure was good, and the hole shot,"what hole shot"? The chine walk was really bad, I was by myself tho (unbalanced). I left the gps at the house but, the speedo read 66mph with current @ 5200rpm, (the speedo and gps are...

Trimate II Setup - Attention 175Checkmate

No, I dont have a lwp, the highest I've ran the merc was 4" below keel, at this height I didnt have a water problem, just a problem w/ the alumium prop. I've heard with a 6" setback that you can get 3.5" to 3" max below keel, before you start having water pressure problems, but I have not had a...

Trimate II Setup - Attention 175Checkmate

Hi, I have a trimate also, just a few things to share with ya. The 6" jackplate is a must I think, It was like night and day, my chine walk was gone, and when I raised my merc (150hp) from 9" to 5" below keel, I picked up 800rpms and 5mph and hole shot was still good at 5". With a 14x19p laser...

Where in the hell, can I find tilt/trim hoses for my mecury because I added a 6" jp. One needs to be (14" long w/ 1/4" fittings 90deg. on both ends.) The second one (14" long w/ 3/16 fittings 90deg. on both ends.) Down here in Mississippi NO ONE has any such part, not even the hydraulic hose...
