Solid Mounts !!

Mr. Buss

Well-known member
i put a set a solid mounts in last night, the old rubber ones were hit, the project went execptionally well, exexpt pulling the powerhead back off because i forgot the shift shaft...:brickwall: luckily i only had about 3 nuts started before i realized it!!

Anyway, i think its gonna make a big difference, i didnt realize how soft the rubber was until i got the solid one's in. gonna give it a whirl after work today:surf:

I talked about putting those in for 4 years and never did. i would be willing to bet they will solve your handling problems.

stock mounts suck

i shimmed and pinned my rubber ones
and it made a huge a difference
my little boat handles like a ferrari now
Youll have a way better chance against that chine walk

I loved the way my 225 Promax would vibrate the boat a little at idle. One gear head passenger even commented on how he could feel each cylinder hit, LOVED IT! Boats handle so much better with solid mounts!

I have tried selling the boat but no takers!!
I guess I could hold on to it as an on-going project.

Ballpark cost for solid mounts??
Is it a big job to change them??

Thanks!

i stil haveent got to try them out yet....:shakehead:.. but it took me about 4-5 hours to put them in probably less without interruptions

i did "cheat" though... i didnt disconnect anything, just pulled the powerhead straight up, pulled put the mid, put the mounts in and reassembled

make sure ya get new gaskets, i got about $50 worth of them to return because of a desigh change in the exhaust plate, and the dealer wasnt "sure" which one i had, even with the serial number, so i ordered them all, even if he dont take em back, its still better than waitin for the right stuff to come with it tore apart!!!!!!!!

Shakin

They surely help in the handleing dept. but get out the Loc-Tite for everything else in the boat (LOL)

Cheaters.
I can handle my V6 Predictor with the old Gumbie mounts.

J/K guys I want to get some also. Maybe CR can post some pics of his homemade mounts. Please

CR's are slomc mounts nobody makes solids for the so all they can do is drill and insert pins to tighten them up.

you'll think, theres all the difference in the world, and it aint in horsepower. the less i have spent setting up my enchanter, the better it performs, and notice i didnt say faster. i only had to tell my partner to sit in the back so i could hold back on the trim by 1/2 inch, and the rich boy with the 21 concord w/250 went out of control at 67mph. i still had 2000krpm to go, and a mixed drink in my hand. he spent 35k$, i spent 4k, and alot of little things to solidify my boat to hold my 2.5 litre handgrenade thats kickin ass with a 75-4 stroke cover on it. hey man, its humiliating when you got a beautiful expensive rig, and its getting whipped by a classic peice of priceless crap, that i wouldnt sell for nothing. my smilemaker 1 is priceless, and all it takes is some thought and labor to strengthen things up, and its like putting horsepower on, yet im using my money for gas. were fools, and proud of it. oh, forgot to mention, it makes the voyage safer too.
