18" of setback on Pulsare 2100??

JUPITER PULSARE

Well-known member
Ok guys, I don't think anyone has tried it..but what do you think of 18" of setback on a Pulsare 2100 longdeck?? My last Pulsare had 13.5" with a Mercury 3.0 liter 225 and had no issues. I have 4" Panther Marine setback brackets installed on my Pulsare and just bought a 14" Rapid jack. I can remove the Panthers or add the Rapid jack for a total of 18"!

Not unless you're gonna hang a suped up 260/280 looking for pure speed only... Wonder if that would push it to 100? Everyday driving would prob suck for the most part though.

When i first put my 300 on mine i hated it @15.5 back for loads and went to 11 back and worked good for all around use. Now i am 17.5 back on it with the 250(same weight) and i use it for one thing and it works for that. I dont notice any real bad traits with 2 in it, but the motor is always on or off if you know what i mean.....85.6 so far

Btw, 13.5 back was 84.6 next trip at 17.5 back was 85.6 i know there is more, but not sure how much. Depends on how important about 2mph is worth to a guy.

KCT, on your 2100 with 17.5" setback did you notice any bad midrange hop (porpoise) when not at wide open throttle?? Any stress cracks in the splash well corners?? I haven't decided if I'm going to remove my 4" setbacks and just install the 14" Rapid Jack or try it with all 18" of setback....

No cracks, i dont notice any porpoise as i spend most my time above 60a when i use it. I would mount the rapid jack first as it looks ro have a larger transome footprint. Then put that 2 piece set back between the motor and it so it is easy to try out at 18 back.

Actually, the Panther Marine brackets have a wider footprint against the transom side. They are flared out...

For the forces applied i would want a taller footprint........ that is what i was tring to say, bad choice of words i guess.

Mine has had 18" of setback since purchased so i can't speak of running less? The boat does not porpoise or hop at any speed. However, it is hard the keep the bow down in any chop over 2-3 ft. I've been thinking about purchasing the Bennet M80 trim tabs for such conditions. I'm running a 250xb, torquemaster, 86.1 gps
