Tossing up the idea of selling my 81 14ft starfire. Bought the boat from a guy who had it sitting in field. Nothing but a hull with a bad transom. I restored with the thought of keeping it forever in mind. One daughter and wife who's showed interest in boating later, I've decided to sell for something bigger. I replaced the transom, added some crazy support to the hull to make it bullet proof, rebuilt the 1978 tower of power including 150 exhaust housing, carbs, new ignition system. New 6 inch jack plate and 24 pitch laser 2. Stripped and repainted. New seats, carpet, and some sweet LED blue interior lights. I have yet to see another 14 ft starfire and especially one for sale so I gather they aren't that common. Despite being short the boat is really wide and handles great. If it weren't for wanting to take my 2 year old with us I would never think about parting with the boat. Let me know what you all think she may be worth and I promise no feeling will be hurt.

Sounds like a nice boat and like you've put a lot of work into her. It always helps to see some pictures to give a better idea of what you have. If you decide to do that you'll have to go to Photobucket first and load them you'll be able to post them on here. Good luck and hope to see some pics.

1981 checkmate starfire. Freshly rebuilt 115 mercury tower of power. Completely restored including new transom, seats, carpet, paint. Have photos of restoration if requested. Boat is more solid now than it was brand new. Hull meticulously redone to last. My plan was to keep this boat forever and it was built that way. Has jack plate, 24 pitch laser 2 prop. Currently runs 55mph. All new ignition components with the exception of the trigger which I took of a motor that had minimal hours. It is a padded v hull and capable of higher speeds with a chopper prop and jack plate raised up. Extremely reliable as I have enjoyed using the boat every weekend since its completion in June and will continue to do so until sold. I have decided to buy a bigger more family friendly boat and due to it being on a lift at my community, I must sell. The boat is on a lift and ready to water test, comes with trailer that has new tires and lights. Please feel free to call with any questions.

If she looks as good in person as she does in the pictures I personally don't think that $2900 is out of line. You can always come down if you get a lower offer. The unfortunate part for you is the time of year you're trying to sell. I think you'd have better luck come next Spring but if you need to move her then you gotta do what you gotta do. Best of luck on the sale and then the hunt for a new vessel. Jim
