1991 Diplomat Information?

Hi,

I have an opportunity to buy a VERY CLEAN 1991 Diplomat with matching C-Hawk trailer.

I know (or at least am told) it is 18' 2", 205HP 4.3 Mercruiser, 185 engine hours. I know it is a Diplomat, it says so on the hull. Can anyone validate this information?

Where can I find more information about the model - specifications, pictures, speed, etc...? What might it be worth? Are there any mechanical "gotcha's" I should be looking for? Does anyone have any experience using this boat as a family ski boat? Let me know. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

P.S. I originally posted this in the introductions forum, but after reading them decided that this was the more appropriate place.

MINE IS THE OUTBOARD MODEL AND IS A GREAT ALL AROUND BOAT
PLUS BEING A BOWRIDER GIVES YOU A LOT OF EXTRA ROOM:bounce:

diplomat

big dave has an 86 he took out the 4 cyl and put in a hopped up 5.7 v-8
he's running almost 70

great hull i thought 17' 10" i have an eluder same boat just a little longer

the 4.3 should get pretty good fuel economy and still have plenty of get up and go

got any pics yet?

I'm taking it for a test run tomorrow. It's in nearly perfect condition, it does have the slight drawback that the color scheme is weak. It's a white boat with pink/teal highlights and upholstery.

i have a super clean 17' 1985 diplomat bowrider with a Mercruiser 470 3.7L 4cyl. engine in it----got it from the original owner and they took incredible care of this boat---has the normal wear and tear a 22 year old boat will have but all in all you would never think it is an 85 from looking at it---even with the 4cyl it gets right up and moves out---very nimble handling and turns on a dime. they are great all around ski/tubing/cruising boats for the family. mine is that light grey hull with a dark navy blue border all around on the top of the deck----the scheme inside is a blue carpet with light grey seats with the dark/light blue stripes on seats and engine cover----she's really nice looking--and i picked it up with an ez loader roller trailer for $3500 bucks which i also thought was a nice deal considering the shape of the boat---mine will also be getting the warmed-over 350 engine treatment within the next 1-2 years as i make my living as a professional auto mechanic and have been dying for a motor build project since finishing my chevy nova a few years ago. i highly recommend checking out the diplomat and maybe once you see it on the water the pink/teal might not be so bad looking. good luck with it.
