1994 Persuader

I'm considering removing my mercrusier alpha outdrive and replacing it with a Berkley jet. Anybody have any experience with this or knowledge, good or bad. The lake I am on is shallow and getting to and from my cottage is difficult. Even with running low RPM's with the outdrive up I keep trashing u-joints & gimbel bearings. Any suggestions?:rof:

I had the same problem when I bought my lake house. My 183 Persuader drew too much water for my shallow beach.

I sold my Persuader and bought an outboard Checkmate, HUGE differnece in shallow water capability.

Thats not a good idea its been talked about before here. Your better off buying a jetboat. The cost involved and I believe the hull is also made different and the boat would perform badly.

Thanks for the thoughts. I would hate to sell this boat as it's part of the family. Maybe I'll look into dredging the lake.
