Anyone running a Supercharger on this boat...Wanna see pics and am looking for cleareance answers...Will a SC fit WITHOUT cutting the hatch...(dont want a scoop)...No intercooler...Send pics if you have..Thanks

I am just finishing a Procharger installation in my 97 253. The hatch goes back on this week and should be in the water for Memorial day weekend. It was a tight fit with the intercooler up front but it fit. I went with this type of s/c because I also did not want to put a scoop through my hatch. I did check out a Weiand 177 and 250 prior to going with the Procharger and they should fit under your hatch w/o intercooler. Weiand's website has the height dimensions for their superchargers if you want to check them out. I chose the Procharger because I wanted to run intercooled. If you are interested in a Prochager it's alot easier to install when the engine is out of the boat. I can't imagine putting one on with the engine still in the boat. Lots of brackets and spacers to deal with and alot of rerouting lines also. If you are interested in pics let me know. I will have some this week.

Chris,
what did you install and on what???
im doing the same thing on my 242, wondering what you expect to see and how it went would love to keep in touch on all of this....

Kevin,
I installed a Procharger M-1 5 psi intercooled system on my 97 454 Mag. (carb.) engine. I also added Hardin Marine Cyclone headers,Msd ignition,Hardin Marine (hp500 copy) intake manifold,Aeromotive a1000 fuel pump, in line filter, high flow seperator, and boost referenced regulator. I upgraded the cooling with a dual stage Hardin Marine pump. I have a stock Bravo 1 with a drive shower and Stern Jack. My old combo used to get me to 62+. I am hoping for high 70's. If you go with a Procharger spend the extra money for the self contained kit. There is no way to secure an oil return line from the s/c to the oil pan with the engine in the boat. I ended up drilling a hole in the pan and welding a threaded nipple to the pan. There wasn't enough material to tap a good thread into after punching a hole in the pan.You also have to move your p/s pump to the other side of the engine so the lines all have to be rerouted too. I also had to remove the p/s reservoir to move the return line nipple because it hit the crossover tube. I ended up installing my oil cooler and p/s cooler to the floor and running new cooling hoses. The manual makes it seem much easier than it is. If you go with the Procharger let me know. I will gladly help you with any advice I can give. The engine did start first try so I'm hoping for a good weekend. Thanks. Chris

chris, great info.
i, too, am finishing my install. i had the motor out of the boat, welded on a nipple for the return line......etc.
you have done more upgrades than i have. i have the 502 i built last year. dart intake, iron ported heads, emi thunder exhaust, mild cam.
i am just finishing up on the fuel lines to the box and making a place to mount the fuel regulator. i have to install guages and remotely mount my oil filter.
then im gonna fire it up. i was pushing my 242 convincor at 72-73 before. cant wait to see where i end up!!

sorry SED253,
this is the end for me, email me if you want chris.

SED, did you get under that hatch to measure? i think itll fit with no problem.

keep us posted though.

It'll fit just fine ...need 18" and i have 21 with the hatch closed..this is for a 6.71 Blowershop S/C no chiller with daul 850's...gonna blow5-6 lbs

I have a 1988 251 Convincor and will be recieving my new Wieand 177 in the mail this week. I'm worried about hatch clearence and if there'll be enough room in front of the engine for the extra pulley. I got the long version.
