2 checkmates?!?!

So my plan was to sell the starliner and move up to a bigger boat.
I made a deal with Sim and took his little checkmate (predictor)on a trade to use or sell at a later date as I move up. You know how things never go as planned. I got a call from a guy today who saw the starliner and said He heard I liked Checkmates and was wondering if I was interested in another one. well I just got home about an hour ago with a 1987 starflight with a Evinrude XP 200 on the back. The boat is white with blue metalflake. I heard the motor run and it sounds strong (for an evinrude) it has an exhaust tuner on it. Now I need to decide what to do. Should I keep both of these boats and get them ready for next summer? should I keep the big one and sell the little one should I sell them both? I am so confused..
The wife looked at the starflight and liked it although the starliner didn't have enough room. Oh well here we go again. I feel this is an excellent problem to have. Which Checkmate should we take out today!!!!!!

Nice!

I would sell the Predictor and the J-Rude off the Flite. Then take the money and put a serious deposit on a 300XS.

Hang that biatch off the Flite, and Mama will have more to worry about then how much room there is..LOL:rof:

:poke:

Hotdaddy27 has surely got the answer....unless child support is a consideration!!!!

Yeah, the 'Flite MIGHT be the way to go('specially w/a 3 of them x's) but it sounds to me like (and you haven't mentioned the kidzezzz) your soon to have 4 x's if'n you don't find some room for the kidz, the inlaws AND the outlaws....

with that said, here' my "un-informed" 2-cents wert....

1) Sell the Hot Rod Predictor.

2) Sell the X-rated 'rude thing on a bass fishin' site, er sumpin'

3) The "powerless" 'Flight should be the easiest move of all

4) Buy a bigger Checkmate like Persuader, Convincor, etc.

SELL SELL GO BIGGER AND NEWER THE WIFE WANTS MORE ROOM YOU BETTER LISTEN

thanks for the input guys. The kids are not a problem any more. only one left at home and she only goes with once in a while.
The predictor is neat but not for me. I agree that bigger will be better but it MUST be an outboard. No I/O's. we have a low tide issue. plus the sound and smell of a 2 stroke just does something for me!!!!
keep your eyes open for something like this. in the mean time I will rip that evinrude off and start cleaning up the starflite.
I'll get pics and try to get them on here (or send them to hot daddy to post for me.)

i'm with you on this one hotdaddy:thumb:he could probley sell the predicter and the j-rude and buy a nice 250 outright and the flite would still haul a**!!!!!:banana:if this is what you decide to do just buy mama a porta-pot:cheers:D

So what do you think the predictor is worth? Who in the world would want a XP junkin rude?!?
what is a fair price for that?
Give me your thoughts. I'll get some compression #'s this weekend and then go from there

I'd be happy to post some pics for ya.

By the sounds of it you only have one choice.....2400BRX!

Bigger than the 21 Starliner/PulsareBR, still an outboard, and plenty fast with a 300!

Sell everything and use it for a down payment. Then you will only need to come up with about $50K

well thats a bit over my budget. actually as I'm looking at this boat I kind of like the looks of it. Maybe I'll just rig this one for next year.
I do have one question though. The original hatch covers are missing in the back beside the motor well. are they available from the factory or does anyone know where they can be found??
also , again what should I ask for the evinrude and what is the going price for a predictor? just a ball park so I can start advertising.

yes that is it. I need to give some attention to the transom. It has issues!! and not in a good way. it is a good looking boat though.
nice colors.

Hey Kyle, nice boat!
I knew you couldn't turn your back on Check. Grady White was it? What were you thinking?

Hey sim, if you are boating with us next year I certainly can't have you flying by me in my old boat.that would drive me nuts.

Yuppers, thats my old one! I loved that thing, but when i realized i needed an open bow and that it needed quite a good deal of work, it was sold locally. Wierd though, that transom was solid when i sold it. I think the last owner did allot of hot starts out of the hole. But then again, I heard what you paid for that :eyecrazy:. You're way ahead of the game if you decide to fix it up! :bigthumb:.
Dunno, for an old heavy-evy hanging on the back, I gps'd over 63mph. I don't know of any stock 200 mercs that will beat that. I wouldn't be affraid of running it, though it was awful thirsty :shakehead:

Its been a while since I looked at the starflite so I drug it out today and yanked the Evinrude and jackplate off.
Now the fun begins I started the Evinrude before I took it off and I must say it sounds good. If anyone wants it let me know.
here are a couple of pics of todays fun.
The one pic shows my hoist. it is awsome for yanking motors.

hey Smit, you got anything missing on that engine??I have a 89 xp200,just put lower and cover on craigslist..looks like you are missing your air filter cover..let me know if you need anything..

I am missing the air filter cover. do you have one?
what do you want for the lower? I was thinking of getting one and putting a low water pickup on it. then I would have a spare.
which city are they listed under.

I just disassembled a 1990 XP 175. The powerhead was bad. I saved all the parts, but the powerhead. If there is anything that you can use from it let me know. The cover is faded, the decals are peeling but no cracks or scratches. Lower cowling pitted, trim works. I have to check the lower unit. It is supposed to be good, we will see.
