2000 ZT 280??????

Hey everyone,I'm looking at a 2000 ZT280. It has a 454 MAG EPI with about 450hrs on it. The boat looks very clean, and very stock.
I'm not sure which prop they are running, but my biggest question is will that be enough motor for that size boat?

Thx,
Todd

It all depends on what your idea of "enough" is. If your goal is to run in the low to mid 60's with hardly any maintenance then the answer is yes. If you're looking to run in the 70's... not with that engine. But if it is a mag mpi it already has forged internals and is a good candidate for a procharger. Should sniff 80 with one of those. Hope this info helps.

Diesel, the 60's are just fine. As far as getting that hull out of the hole was more my concern. They were running a 4 blade which should help for sure. Would a proCharger make that big of a difference?

yes. on a 454 mag mpi the hp jumps from 385 to around 625. But then you need to make sure the outdrive can handle it ( bravo 1's can't for very long), does the boat have hydraulic steering? If not it's highly recommended. Reliability also drops drastically. Once you factor all on that in, a $5k upgrade for some serious performance gains just went to $20k. I'd say if you're happy with the 60's then go for it, leave it alone and enjoy many hours of problem free boating.
