2000 ZT330 Restoration Build Thread

I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1990 251.
As you did I also bought sight unseen. Exterior wise looked decent.
Upholstery needed to be done. I got video of it running. It's a 454 Mag, rebuilt with upgrades.
Had a 251 before and really like the boat, and the price was right.
Well, it's been two years. Stringers were rotten and wet all the way forward.
Transom surprisingly is solid and dry.
So at this point, stringers and floors are all new. New fuel tank as the old was pitted real bad. Rebuilt engine again as I found 2 dead cylinders. Valves where a mess. Looked to have been overheated.
But getting there. Upholstery is next. Maybe see water this summer.
I will have way more into it than it will ever be worth. But it's what I want.

It is definitely takes time. We are doing everything we can to get this thing going by the end of summer but also not trying to skip anything important. That sounds like a great project, have you made a post with pictures? If you have please attach a link.

Sanding and buffing of boat is coming along nicely. They are moving it outside next week to do the sides, back, and bottom.

Gauge panels are going to be carbon fiber from livorsi but I cut some out of metal just seeing what gauge placement will be like. Final shape is not going to be what is in that pic. Trying to figure out what to do. Tabs, drives and steering all fit up and coming back off for gelcoat in engine bay and buffing rear area.

Here are some updated pics. Bilge is painted and the black and yellow splatter done.

Got the trim sync module for the drives. Interested to see how good that works.

Boat has been buffed and buffed again to get the gel back to original. Still waiting on parts to come. Motors arent quite finished yet either. Gauge panel has been ordered but havent ordered throttles yet.

Hopefully these pics dont post sideways.

The pictures dont really do it justice. There was probably 50 or more cracks that were repaired in the gel. There is not a single scratch or crack on the exterior or interior now.

Update:

Corona really put a delay in this project as far as suppliers for parts but things have started rolling in again.

1. Pistons finally came from being coated by Diamond and have been given to engine builder. He is hopefully going to have a motor assembled by next week so rigging can really start to take place.

2. New livorsi throttles came in

3. New switch panels have been ordered from Livorsi. Carbon fiber with different toggles and buttons.

4. I got a wireless/bluetooth/rfid style kill switch from Fell Marine (MOB+). It will be interesting to see how hard it is to install. Its going to need a relay in order to work for both engines. Got two modules that attach to life jacket as well as two wrist bands.

5. Ordered a set of hydraulic hinges from Dana Marine. Going to have to get fiberglass guy to close up holes from the old hinges and I will need to make some sort of backing plate. Went with the stainless braided hoses and will turn the pressure up depending on how well they lift the ZT hatch (500lb cap)

6. Windshield is complete from ocean dynamics and shipped today

7. Headers have finished at heat treat and are going to polisher as of yesterday.

Switch panel picture is just an example, havent gotten them in yet.
