2001 Pulsare 2100 BR Speedo and Tach stopped working

I just bought a New to me 2001 Pulsare 2100 BR. Its a super clean boat and I am crazy excited. The owner did tell me that both the Tach and Speedo Stopped working suddenly the last time he was out. We negotiated the repair and I agreed to diagnose and deal with it.

Does anyone know some basic things to look for, should this be a pretty simple repair or could it get costly?

The boat and wiring is all stock and original and super clean so I dont expect that it is someone else's Gremlin wiring. It looks like I am dealing with Factory wiring still.

What do you mean by not working? Will they light up and not read or do they do nothing at all? If the speedo is a pitot style unit, it should still read even with out power. My guess would be a clogged or broken line. Mine did that in my starflite. Just check the line front to back, or replace it, its pretty cheap and really easy. The tach will take a little more looking into. It might be something as simple as a loose connection on the motor or back of the gauge. Again, its hard telling without knowing exactly what the gauges are (or aren't) doing. Shoot us some more info and we will try to get you all straitened out!!
 
Hey guys, I got the new boat and figured Id give you all an update. The Speedo hole was clogged. (easy fix) and looks like I need regulators for the Outboard to fix the tach. (found it was not charging as well and looks like the stator is testing ok)

Ordered the regulators last night. Thanks for you help!
 
You never mentioned what you have hanging off the back, your setback, what pitch & type of prop or any top end #'s. People have been crucified for less around here, considered this your one free pass! :devil:

Lol. Havent Gotten it on the water yet, other than testing when I bought it.

6" Setback
