2008 Checkmate Poker Run & Factory Open House Pics

Hi Gang,

I've created a new photo gallery category for 2008 Checkmate Poker Run & Factory Open House pics.

Similar to how we have done the past couple of years, this particular gallery category has been set up so that any registered member of the community can upload images from the event.

Please note that this category is only to be used for pics from this years event!

If you need assistance using the gallery, please post your questions in this thread and either myself or one of the members familiar with using the gallery will no doubt help you out.

Once images are uploaded to the gallery, you can then link to the images and post them on the forums using the vBulletin board code the gallery gives you. To copy the code, simply highlight it and hit "control C" and then paste the copied code into your post and viola! your pics will appear, if you've done it correctly. Again, if you need assistance linking to gallery pics, ask away in this thread and we'll do our best to help you out.

Thanks in advance to everyone who takes the time and makes the effort to contribute pics to the gallery.

Let's try to make this year's gallery category the largest one yet! :thumb:

Well I made it down again for open house one more time.I have say that the new twin outboard 28 ft looks great in person the pics don't do it justice. And the 24ft with the tower just oozes fun and practality a very very handsom package with room galore.

The turn out was very light this year, by the time I left to hit the bay there was only me,Jeff and his friend from priemer watersports and the fellows who vinyle wrapped thier convincer. But there was more employees and locals on hand then before,

I not sure of the total number of boats for the run,but hopefully next year I'll be able to join if theres another.

Chris in my gallery site,I did have both the v board code line and the thumbnail line. But a few weeks ago the I lost the v board code line. now I can only pull any pics over as thumbnails.I don't know what happened but I would like to be able to move them over as full size pics again.THANKS in advance JEFF

With regard to the way the photo-gallery works, yes the software changed unfortunately a few weeks back.

The way it works now, is that you can link to thumbnails, or in some cases you can hit a little icon that shows up beside the code box, that will display other options to link to other size images. The options icon only show up though, if you uploaded large size pics. If you've uploaded smaller ones it sometimes does not. When you've uploaded larger ones, you will get an option to link to a full size medium image. What it doesn't give you, is code to link to full size images.

I avoided upgrading to this current version for this very reason, but unfortunately I finally had to as a security hole discovered in the old version. I've already made my feedback known to the company that makes the gallery software, although I doubt my voice alone will make a difference. Hopefully if enough people feel the same way and say something about it, perhaps they'll change the way it works.

But for now, it is what it is as they say.

Red, there is no bug. It's called dumb software. I've already been on their support forums and it's something they changed from the last software version. Why? I don't know really. That's why I didn't upgrade the gallery software for over a year as I had already dealt with this problem on Endless Boating as I was running the newer version over there.

There is a complicated answer to the when you get the option to link to a full size medium version and it has to do with the size you upload. So sometimes you get the medium option and sometimes you don't.

Hi Jeff,

Normally, only supporting members can upload pics. So you'll have to go into this particular category to be able to upload them. Make sure you select 2008 Poker Run as the category to upload too.

Once you upload them you can post thumbnails on the forums, or in some cases also medium size full size pics.

-Chris

couldn't run it, so took pics

I took more than a few pics at the poker run and will post
them in the next few days, I haven't uploaded any since
the changes to the site so I hope I am able:eyecrazy:

There's no problem uploading pics to the gallery. The only issue is with regards to linking to large images and posting them here on the forums.

Unfortunately, in most cases you can only post thumbnails which when clicked on take the user to the gallery where they can see the larger images. In most cases, as a user of the forums, I prefer that system to be honest.

With regard to when you get the option of linking to other sizes of images, if a user uploads an image over 600 pixels in width, then there will be options to link to a full size medium image which will be 600 pixels in width. The reason is that the gallery software creates a medium image when a user uploads a image over 600 pixels wide.

I know people on this forum prefer to link to large images from the gallery, but the truth is, there are still lots of users that don't have high speed internet access, so a thread full of large pics is almost unreadable/unloadable for them. And everyone viewing full size pics linked from the gallery, also burns up a lot of bandwidth. So that's the other side of the coin and probably some of the rationale for how the gallery software now works.

Do I personally think it's the best way for it to work though?

No I don't.

I think it should be up to me as the administrator of the site to be able to configure it how I like.

At the end of the day, I believe the gallery pics are the most important ones, not the ones posted in a thread on the forums. The gallery pics are the ones people view for years and years, long after the forum thread itself has sunk down on the list of threads and is long forgotten.

The worst system to me, is where people upload important pics to free sites, and then they end up lost down the road when the free site pulls the plug or purges old files which is common.

And look at it this way, many sites don't even have gallery software as an option. And many others that do, don't allow you to link images over to the forums. And then there are the ones where you have to be a paying member to view the gallery at all.

So what we've got isn't perfect, but it's pretty good I'd say.

Honestly, thats what I figured.Enough talk now, Bring on those thumbnails
Merc, I moved the three that you uploaded into the Poker Run category. They ended up in your personal gallery for some reason.

What I would do guys, is post your pics in the poker run thread itself and we can leave this thread for helping users with the gallery.

-Chris

I just posted pics in the gallery. Too tired right now to figure out how to link them into this forum....

Did anyone get damage from Fri. nite's storms? I had a tree fall on my trailer on the other side of the bay and cutting it up and cleaning DESTROYED my entire Saturday!

Hey Gang,

If you want to post your pics on the forums, please them in the actual Poker Run thread located here!

This thread was intended to be more of an announcement thread letting members know there was an open gallery category for the pics.

We were docked downtown Sandusky during the storm. I have to say it was in the top ten of all time great thunderstorms that I have been in. No damage but I had to support my cockpit cover with my arms so that it would not cave in.

We were at Put-In-Bay when the storm rolled through! Awesome light show! No damage other than a big hangover in the morning.

Glad to see you had your FUN over on the Island:cheers
I forgot to mention that the factory had about 4 smaller O/B ready to roll out the door and a couple larger O/B being built up that day, But not a I/O insight in any stage of completion. Sign of the times I guess!
