2011 Pulsare 2100 w 250 hp STABILITY?

That sounds like me.

I watched the two posted vids and I'm reassured.

Thanks to everyone who responded:thumb:. I received more help than anticipated.

I'll absorb all the advice, check the steering, learn the setup and learn how to drive.
Don't forget to have fun!

I noticed that you have rollers on your trailer, take a look at the hull and see if there are any divots. I had a 1978 glastron Carlson jet boat and it had divots from the rollers and it would handle weird anything over 52 mph. Your pulsare should handle like a dream, mine even handles great at almost 90mph.

The hull is smooth. The entire boat has been cleaned and waxed, including the bottom under the rollers.
The seller thru the trailer in for free, but if I bought new, I'd buy a trailer with the planks.
The steering checked ok with 3/16" play from side to side as measured on the shaft.

Waxing the bottom will cost you speed. These boats need to be able to create air underneath to break free from water.

When your at speed with the jack plate up, less trim on the motor is needed. Your looking to have the prop as level to the surface as possible. With the thrust going straight to rear with little to no roostertail. Allowing the hull to fly itself on the pad.
Although your advise might be for smooth water, I setup the boat as advised on our last outing and the boat handled like a champ. It was rough with the waves averaging 3 1/2 feet in height. I was at 50-55 mph most of time, but got it to 62 mph. The prop was getting minor air and sounded like a whirling vortex. It was an absolute AWESOME ride.

In my opinion 3/16" is too much play in hyd steering. Should be closer to zero. I'd suggest purging it more. Up to you.

Hey Mike Steve here. The guy you bought the boat from. Read a bit of your thread sounds like you're having a bit of a learning curve. Hope all Is alright. If I can help let me know. I can tell you a lot about how I used to run the boat and what I got out of it. Also what to expect and behavior issues. It was my third Checkmate in that design. It takes a while be patient. Ill watch this thread for any responses. Steve.

you know this is a good forum when the seller post on the buyers thread willing to help. the 2100's are great boats and need to be driven as they won't drive themselves. once perfected the driver will not even know he is driving and not pointing the boat

Nice of you to stop in here and thanks. Steves a good guy who gave a me a good deal, a test ride, had a compression test and thru in a trailer.

I'm getting better at driving. I've had a variety of boats from age 7-20. At 26, the last boat I'm famailiar with, was my brothers heavier SleekCraft 23' 300 hp Evinrude with large gill bracket. I was mainly a passenger, but drove a few times.

I'll probably post more questions and report progress.

Hey Mike, Glad to here everything is going well. Yea the Checkmate is a totally different ride than the other boat you spoke of. Glad she found a good home with you. Id still have her if it wasn't for my new rig which hasn't come yet but is getting close. It goes to Mercury this Monday for custom props and to be dialed in by them for three days. Then back to Skater and in two weeks roughly comes out to me in Jersey. Your boat will give you lots of pleasure just take your time and respect the speed you'll get the hang of it eventually. When you run her you can leave the Jackplate all the way up. The propshaft is about 1.5 inches below the pad at that point. I never had a problem with blow out at that height with the prop thats on it now. Also water pressure is fine at that height also. The chine walk which people were talking about is the nature of these boats when you get up in speed. The higher up you run the motor with the jackplate the less you'll see but it will not go away altogether. I know it seems scary right now but in time you will get the hang of it. I got a best top speed out of her of 84mph. I could pretty much get 81 or 82 any day. I would bleed the steering to make sure there is no air in the lines which will help a bit with the chine walk. unless you're gonna be running around like a maniac all the time it should be ok. I question whether the steering that is on it from the factory is strong enough from the start. You can always get a better/stronger system if you feel the need. I believe they do make them. Don't know if you've looked at the Lavorsi gauge system yet. Its a smart craft program I believe and will give you all kinds of info about the motor. Some of it is very helpful. All in all she's a great ride. Only used her roughly two years before the storm then she was on a trailer mostly. I gotta run Ill be in touch. Still looking for Reg but its hard as it was in the house when the hurricane came and I had 10 inches of water in here. lots of stuff got misplaced. Ill look for your questions on line here in the future and will be in touch down the line. Steve.

Hey Ianz, Its an easy thing to do when people are honest. The world would be a much better place if everyone were. The people on this site gave me a lot of help when I needed it. It was greatly appreciated. They are a great bunch of guys and a wealth of knowledge. Thanx. Nastybug/Steve.
