2400 BRX vs 230ZT BR

Two members here have switched from 300XS to 400R power on each of their 2400brx's. Every post they have made since, has been positive regarding the 400R. Just reading their posts, the speed pick up has been about 10mph, going from ~72-3 mph to around ~82mph.

They must be better for bigger/heavier single OB hulls....the 400R's weigh about 160lbs more than an XS.....I use to get 75 mph sometimes better with a 300XS on my 2400CD with about 12" setback. I always thought more setback would gain much more speed seeing as how I had 17.5" on my 21 Pulsare with same motor.

The 2400BR and 2400BRX have the same hull (bottom) I believe, but different deck, seating, windshield...etc.

This is true, but to elaborate, the br is a crawl through/under vs the brx walk through windshield design.
The brx top cap/deck is a one piece design incorporating the entire floor, so no wood floor to rot and no way for water to get to the stringers and core. The seating/interior area is pushed out to the edge of the hull and makes the boat appear much larger inside with more usable storage and seating.

I think your right, It sounds like the 400r really shines when you can use its bottom end power.

The 2400CD is more efficient(as it should be) over the br and brx with the same power. Pretty sure some have reported speeds of 78-9 with a 300XS and the right set up.

I guess the setback on my 2400CD was only 10"...it was a CMC hydraulic.....it needed a lot more.

Well, that's encouraging! I wonder if time to plane was any much improved. Do you recall these members by name? Would like to read their posts.
 
Even though I like my boats to have a car motor and had a 235 Persuader 502 I would take the 2400 over the 230. Both great boats and have seen some really cool zts running around but the 2400 is the superior of the 2 imo. Either way you can't go wrong but for Erie I would go straight to at the least a 253 Convincor or 270.

I've seen 21 Superboats, 22 Velocities, and 24 Supers with twin 2.5's. Shouldn't be a problem.
 
I once bought a 21 Starflight that had a custom made setback bracket on it with two bolt pattern spots that held twin merc 2.4 Bridgeports. I bought it without the motors and controls which were long gone. I restored it and plugged all the holes in the transom from that bracket….I always wondered how it ran with the twins.

I know a 22 Velocity is a real handful with twins on it. I'd imagine the Superboat would be also but at least those have a pad to balance on. The Flight doesn't even have that.

Any pointers in particular where you think the BRX is superior? I'm leaning that way anyway, I like the lines better and I like the setup better inside, but I was wondering what you liked better specifically.

ZT has a built in swim platform that is part of the total length so it is really a 21.5ft hull where as the 2400 is a 24ft hull. Then there is the fiberglass liner on the brx that gets rid of the wood floor and reduces stringer and core rot to a minimum.
 
Exactly what Kars is saying. The 2400 is very roomy with no swim pad . Just alot of space . Yes the 230 is a 21 footer + swim plat but does take the rough pretty well.

What are people doing for swimming and re-entry to the boat? Just a ladder, a stubby platform, or what?
